Shigaraki dies, and goes back in time. To the day OFA was transferred to Deku…
[part 1]
rough idea/summary [part 2]
•
It's the day of the UA entrance exam - late afternoon. Testing is over. Results, of course, haven't even begun to be calculated yet; they will be announced by mail next week. Nothing left but to go home.
And so Deku walks out the gates, dejected. He's going over the whole day in his head: all the questions he read and answers he's given in the written portions, every move he made during the practical. By his own calculations, he just barely passed the written exam... which is nothing compared to the big fat zero he's definitely getting from the practical.
So caught up in his bleak thoughts, Deku walks straight into someone. Embarrassed, Deku apologizes, even though he's the one who's been knocked to the ground. The other guy seems perfectly fine. Well, he's older and is dressed in all black and looks like a ghoul and is staring creepily at Deku, but he seems fine.
When the guy calls out his name - Midoriya Izuku - though...
D-Do I know you?
The guy gives a strange answer: I guess not. But let's talk.
The guy asks Deku if he just took the UA exam to be a Hero, and Deku answers in the affirmative. (Almost starts to ramble about, well, he took the exam, because he wants to be a Hero, yeah, but it didn't go so well... but stops himself in time. No need to tell a stranger all that.)
Why? The guy asks. Why does he want to be a Hero?
That's a simple and easy question. Deku says, to help people. To save them. He wants to be like All Might, saving people with a smile. Deku gives his own smile here, because who wouldn't know of All Might and All Might's smile.
The guy has no reaction to that. He only asks again, Why? Why does he want to save people?
This makes Deku think a little, but not too much. The answer is simple - because they need saving. When someone is in trouble, it's just natural to want to help, right?
Is it?
Well—yeah. Deku finds that it's hard to explain his answer, which is clearly what this guys wants him to do. (Is this a secret UA exam? Judging his character? Determining if he's worthy???) Seeing someone having trouble, being in pain or going through something hard and difficult, it's only right to give them a hand. They should be helped, because... they need it.
So it's pity.
No! Not exactly. It's not judging them, it... shouldn't be that? - it's just... easing their burden. And the burden you'd feel as well. It's hard to see someone suffering, isn't it? Helping them feels better, for everyone.
So it's about your ego.
No!!! (Oh, Deku's so failing this part of the exam too.) He just wants to save people! Isn't that enough?
This time, the guy asks: What if they don't deserve it? What if they're done terrible things, things that are unforgivable? And they'll continue to do them, no matter what. Would you help those people, Midoriya Izuku, if they're in trouble?
It's a moral question that feels a little more complex than any entrance exam would require (so is this guy just... some random weirdo?) but Deku realizes he has the answer. He talks about - who else? - Bakugou, a friend, a bully, and someone who's probably never going to change. But one day last year, his friend needed help. He looked scared. He was in pain. At that moment, he needed saving. Deku wasn't really thinking about any of the stuff Bakugou did, or what he will do, in the future. All Deku thought was... that someone should be there for him.
I don't know about forgiveness, or anything like that, and maybe it really is just a shallow answer, but... if someone looks like they need help, then I'll help them.
The guy is quiet for a long while. Not looking at Deku, just staring off into the distance. Deku wonders and rehearses how he'll make a polite excuse to leave, when the guy finally gives a huff. Says, Nothing has changed, huh?
Deku is very, very confused, but the guy only says nevermind, and turns to leave the same way he entered Deku's day - suddenly and bizarrely.
But when moving, the guy winces; there's a stiffness to him, to his arm; and Deku has to ask, Are you okay? Is it your arm? Do you need help?
The guy says he's fine, and tries to dodge around Deku, but that only makes his wrist visible - with blood. Which alarms Deku, who tries to gently herd the guy toward UA. There's a doctor inside the school - a Hero, actually, with a healing quirk, it's really cool - she can help, she actually just helped me—
Their tiny commotion thankfully gets some of the staff - and All Might!? - to the scene, and just one word from Deku about the guy being hurt immediately has All Might carrying him off to Recovery Girl.
-
At the medical bay, the guy is utterly ungrateful. He says to All Might, You're as annoying as ever; but All Might takes it in stride, keeping his signature smile, even though Deku can see that he's confused and a little hurt.
Recovery Girl heals the guy. Then also brings attention to everything else wrong about the guy. You have multiple puncture wounds... And I see lots of blood, too much to be healthy, but it's not all yours, is it?
(Black is a good color to hide dried blood.)
Surprisingly, the guy answers bluntly and honestly. No.
At this, Deku can feel the atmosphere gets heavier, a little. All Might immediately gets more serious, asking if something had happen, if the young man - because in better lighting, he looked only to be a couple of years older than Deku - was in danger. Was it a Villain? Are they still in the area?
The guy refuses answering and tries to leave, but All Might blocks his path - with a showy flourish - and persists in trying to help. It's okay to tell him - All Might is here! There's no need to be afraid. He'll keep him safe. Evil will be caught and punished. Things will be okay. (Meanwhile, Deku watches Recovery Girl call the police.)
Unstoppable force vs. immovable object. Guy is a quick dodger and won't stop trying to leave, while All Might won't quit trying to get the guy to stay and talk.
Let's get your name! Can you tell us your name?
Fine, you want my name? The guy snaps. The family name is Shimura.
All Might freezes, and Deku sees something he thought was impossible - (Hero form) All Might's smile fading.
Shimura continues. But I don't want anything to do with you. So don't follow me.
Deku can just hear something shattering inside All Might. As he rushes over to All Might to see if he's okay, Shimura walks past them and leaves... but not before pausing at the door and saying something that breaks All Might again.
All For One is dead. I just killed him.
(A clattering sound. Recovery Girl's dropped her cane. Deku wants to grab it and give it back to her, but he doesn't want to leave All Might in his catatonic state either.)
Shimura says, I don't know if it'll stick, but if he does come back, I'll deal with it. You don't have to worry about him anymore.
Deku has so many questions. All Might, what's going on? Do you know Shimura-san? Who's All For One? Who just died? Are you okay?
Shimura gives a laugh at this. Says to Deku, so no one told you anything either. Says to All Might, better tell your successor everything, so he's prepared.
Prepared? All Might finally breaks out of his daze. But you just said...
It's me you'll need to worry about, from now on. Shimura says. You are Heroes. And I'm still a Villain.
Shimura walks out the door. And somehow, in the second between that and Deku running out to chase after him, Shimura has disappeared.

Honestly, I want and don't want to write about this and the previous chapter because after the final chapter between Izuku and Tomura, I honestly don't see the point. Horikoshi is a mediocre writer, who threw away the confrontation between Tomura and Izuku and produced a long epilogue to close plots like the Spinner and his arc with heteromorphic discrimination. I seriously saw people congratulating Shoji and hating Midoriya because Shoji "saved" Spinner and "understood" him, when their fight was cut short and Shoji didn't say anything really good and then we didn't even get a fucking flashback to see how their fight played out. On the other hand, you have all the villains dead, on their way to it or simply locked up never to be seen, while Edgeshot, a random hero that no one cares about, is still alive? Pls, Tomura died, Dabi is on his way to death, Spinner seems to be in a hospital and will probably still end up in police custody, Toga is missing (until there isn't a serious confirmation I won't believe she is dead), Kurogiri is dead, missing, became a cloud? did bk end up killing him? The truth is, I don't know (although I'm honest I don't care either), the remaining members of Lov are in prison. That is to say, all the villains ended up screwed and most of the heroes alive and few with completely debilitating injuries (outside of Endeavor in a wheelchair and I suppose Hawks and the heroes who lost their quirk due to AFO). Now we have a chapter that leaves open a future conversation between Ochako and Izuku and the truth is, I have read good takes on this and completely stupid ones too. I think there is going to be a love confession? No, and honestly it would be out of place when you have two characters feeling like shit. Although, I consider hypocritical many shippers who want to say that their future conversation don't have to end in a future romance or be a pillar that explains a later love relationship, this fandom shouts when two characters share a fucking panel, if the izuocha shippers izuku want to talk about romance they have the right to do so, if they want to believe that there will be a confession too (don't blame anyone when this doesn't happen, but they can do it). However, this talk has the potential to be very good or just plain disappointing, Izuku is going through a lot of shit because of Tomura, at least Horikoshi isn't mediocre enough to deny Izuku some thought about the situation. Besides this talk seems a lot to "misery loves company", since the end of the war Ochako and Midoriya have been the only two characters who have been conflicted by the results, and hiding their feelings to the point of denial, in this chapter we have the Ochako's breaking point, and the same word repeated between them pain. This future conversation also brings up many interesting points, a call back to Izuku perhaps managing to console Ochako as he failed to do during the sports festival, again a scenario similar to their talk before the final battle, both feeling heartbroken by the outcomes with their villains. This talk has great potential, but Horikoshi is surely going to screw it up, my faith in the guy is at rock bottom and honestly his work died when he rushed Tomura and Izuku end in such an unsatisfactory way and the easy route of eliminating or neutralizing the villains of the League.

Something I just realized about decay recontextualized a lot about Tomura and his story. When he used his city wide decay, he took a lot of damage on his arm. I figured that this was due to him overusing his quirk, similar to Kaminari going brain dead, but rewatching the series I don’t think this was the case. As a child, when he threw a ball his finger seemed to hurt, which means that every time he used his quirk, however minor or petty, he took damage from it. (1/3)
After he killed his family and walking down the street, his hands were covered in blood. That was his blood and not his fathers like I thought. His quirk is so destructive it even breaks him apart just by not using it. His itching develops into being so painful that after being pushed by some thugs and not fighting back, he’s writhing on the floor in pain with All For One just watching, Interestingly, his advice is to “stop holding back”. So that must mean on some level he knows about the quirks functions and that the itching must hurt worse than the decay, so is advising for the lesser of two evils. (2/3)
During his first appearance, after All Might defeated the Nomu, Tomura must has been in so much pain to need to scratch himself that much. His body must be so numb to this over the course of the story. It’s the reason why he doesn’t seem to react to any injuries like being shot, stabbed, or even seem remotely disgusted by the warp ability. Whenever he fights someone like Aizawa or Redestro, he takes their attacks in order to get close enough to grab them because Tomura feels more pain not using decay than anything they do to him. I used to think Midoriya breaking his bones repeatedly was terrifying but this is on a whole other level of messed up. (3/3)
I was going to get into why the itch manifests the way it does, but I'd rather leave that to it's own post. So if any of you are interested in that, let me know.
I'm confused by this sentiment. As far as we can tell, "Decay" doesn't damage Tomura. For starters, the whole blood argument. Besides the fact that one of the examples has nothing to do with his Quirk, the damage to his arm was from Re-Destro crushing it, and the blood on Tomura's hands is clearly meant to be from his father. We see a few panels in Chapter 236 of a massive spurt of blood coming from his father's face when Tomura attacks him. Because in the manga, "Decay" is way messier, turning people into meaty chunks. It's a miracle he doesn't have more literal blood on his hands. Second, you are attributing an awful lot of Tomura's traits to "Decay", most of which require very specific readings. All For One telling him to not hold back? Simply him trying to encourage Tomura into his destructive behavior. Tomura taking loads of damage without reacting? That could apply to so many characters here. Like how Izuku should be screaming bloody murder after breaking all of his bones. Him running towards people to attack them? Could it not be that his Quirk relies on making contact with something, so running forward to touch it is the best way to apply it?
Finally, the itch. The whole point of the itch is to represent Tomura's craving for destruction. It doesn't seem to be the direct result of his Quirk. If it really worked like you were describing it, Tomura should have that feeling all the time, but he doesn't. The only time we ever see the itch get as bad as you are describing it is when he was a kid, which was right before his first big step to villainy when he killed those two thugs because he wanted to. He gave into his desire for destruction because All For One said that he should since it made him happy. It's why we only ever see him reacting the way he does whenever he is stressed. He wants to destroy things that are causing problems. He wants to do it because it makes him happy. It's a compulsion, but not one from his Quirk. Because after that point, the itch doesn't come up that often, at least not to the degree it affected him as a kid. Having it all boil down to his Quirk doing everything to Tomura is less interesting, needlessly simplifies the character, and raises more questions than it answers.

so! while you are the first result for "anyone ao3" you are not the only result, and i saw that ao3 has a tag for 'reader/anyone' which i'm sure is for a perfectly logical reason, but now i'm just picturing poor anyone!izuku coming across x reader fic with the 'leader of anyone'. how weird do you think the public's headcanons are?
Congratulations, Anon! I had never considered it so you're now responsible for putting Izuku through pain.
I don't read character/reader fics so if I get something wrong, I apologize.
Izuku is a hero fan so he knows the sacro-saint rule of "NEVER READ FICS ABOUT YOURSELF". However, it's harder to avoid fanarts and even if Anyone doesn't show their face, people have headcanons until the most common design is someone blond, with piercing blue eyes, gender ambiguous and very tall.
So yes, they basically see him as a Young All Might. But there is a reason for that! It's because the first person to use their design were vaguely aware that there was someone in Anyone who beat several villains and even heroes and it was clear that said agent has a power-type quirk so people kinda subconsciously assimilated them to All Might.
But after some time (when the Anyone Might was pretty settled to make things awkward), people started to inform every Anyone/readers writer or readers that they might not be sure about the gender (because I learned during Halloween that the Anyone hoodie is very good at hiding gender) but they are definitely a teenager.
Some people kept the Anyone with a power-type quirk because it's fiction inspired by RL and other orphaned their fics and started writing a new Anyone character with another type of quirks. The Anyone Might designed was often kept though tweaked depending on the writer/artist and the most popular quirk for this fictional Anyone 2.0 was technopathy for reasons I will explain later. As for the Hosu vigilante, when he appeared, they were an impulsive sibling type of character.
So, I said that Izuku wouldn't even make eye contact with fics involving Anyone or the Hosu vigilante.
But Dabi and Hawks would. Because they're assholes. They would read it out loud in the bar just to mess with Izuku. And Izuku will probably change the locks of Dabi's apartment and leave him homeless for it. But because of that, Izuku and the rest of the inner circle would learn about the characterization of Fandom!Anyone. Which would be... A villain with dark grey morality, will do things because he gets bored easily so they run after thrills, manipulative, magnificent bastard, but fiercely protective of the reader.
So basically, AFO.
There is also a reason for that. Villain/reader are a popular thing and in the last decade, a writer has flooded the tag with their OC (and for some reason, the reader was often a scientist helping the villain) so the characterization marked the fandom and it was recycled several times.
But some readers aren't a fan of a near-villainous vigilante so there is another characterization. A no-nonsense, sarcastic, blasé Fanon!Anyone. And this fanon!Anyone always have a quirk aligned with technology.
Basically, they transplanted the personality of my favorite hacker and very known mod for the Anyone server, aka Gwen, aka Nagisa, to their OC. And sometimes, they use quotes on what she said on the server.
So many people in the Anyone inner circle are just... suffering.
#There was no need for me to make a whole fandom history in my verse... and yet...#This is the consequence of fic writer AFO#anyone fic

Reminder (Yandere!Midoriya Izuku x Reader)
A/n: A piece originally made for the Izumonth collab that never got posted for very obvious reasons if you look back. I still had the draft and thought it pretty banger if I went through with posting it this year so people can experience what they missed out on
Warnings: Yandere themes, yandere character, bodily harm for pleasure, knife play, carving, branding, blood, licking of blood, unhealthy relationships, Midoriya's batshit
“I-Izuku~” Emerald eyes glance upwards to meet your own. His scarred hands give your thighs a soft reassuring squeeze before pressing them more against your body in an attempt to have his cock hit deeper inside of you. They soften in a way you missed seeing, his hips slowing a bit as he takes his time admiring every soft curve and crease. He squeezes at the swell of your thighs, his breath catching in his throat at the soft sound he hears you make. His hips softly buck into you desperately, his face moving to bury itself in your neck as he breathes in your scent before pulling away to continue adoring the heavenly sight of you under him in such a blissful state. You were even more beautiful without the restraints on you, with you consenting to have him be so close to you and love you in such a way.
Your cooperation added another layer to the way he would love you tonight.
Being here with you like this had once been an almost unattainable dream, so much so that he thought he was imagining this wet scenario after finally going crazy as a result of you constantly denying his love. Even if it was, it wouldn’t ruin the pure ecstasy and excitement he received from having you allow him to love you so intimately without protective chains.
There’s an admirable amount of beautiful marks he’s left on your soft skin, the newer ones more prominent in shade and size. He works so hard to maintain your eternal glow, getting only the best products for you to ensure your body is well-kept and maintained. This was something entirely different to him, a milestone that he could only dream to achieve in the midst of his past lonely nights where he only had a small token of your panties to sniff as he masturbated to the seemingly far-away idea of pleasuring you. Having this key to you in his hands was such an honor to him and he would make sure each of your needs was met, no matter how dirty or how soft he needed to be to achieve the euphoria for you.
He would love to die in such an intimate position with you, with his dick buried deep inside of you with your walls twitching around him and tightening from all the overstimulation he gave you beforehand. Just the thought has him softly moaning in pleasure. Only he gets to see you so needy with desires, so adorably flushed in bliss. It’s enough to have him finally cum from stimulation that night (every other time he came was just from hearing your adorable noises and watching you release and withe under him from the ministrations and feathery touches he gave your body).
He pulls out when the desire to see you painted white in his semen outweighs the idea of filling you to the brim with his release, leaving him to settle with rutting into his hand until he ejaculates all over the frontal half of your body. His cheeks burn brightly seeing you make such an erotic face after having him cum on you, a face he’s only seen from afar and up close only in dreams before tonight. He has pictures he’s taken, videos he’s recorded with you in such euphoria but having it so close he could practically touch you and melt was millions of miles better than his original jack-off material. He can only feel sorry for his past self for having to settle without the true, ephemeral beauty of having you before him in such a horny state.
How many people have gotten to see his darling like this before him? Touch them and love them in such a way?
He suddenly finds himself glancing at his bedside table, a look flashing through his eyes as an idea comes to mind. You're too lost in your own high to notice him reach over and you can’t find the energy to care once you catch him pull something out from the drawer. The sharp item doesn’t truly catch your eye until a reflection of light shines off the blade. He finds the small inhale you make delightfully adorable and a small smirk deviously comes to his lips as he flips the idea over in his head.
“You’re so amazing, baby” He presses the tip against your skin, not enough to bruise, yet, but enough for you to know just how sharp and fatal it is. He finds the way you hold your breath and squirm away from the knife arousing and the fact that you’d think he’d kill you is just so precious. He presses it more against your skin, the inhale of jolted pain you make with the small cut enough to make his dick hard again. He brings the blade up to the side of your face, mockingly caressing the area before lowering the knife to your chin and lifting it with one of the flat sides, “So amazing that you’ve pushed my hand to really claim what’s mine. You don’t mind having Deku on different parts of your body, right?~”
It takes a moment for you to begin bleeding from the small cut he gave you and you're thankful that it’s not deep enough to need immediate attention. He’s careful with outlining your curves with the weapon, his teeth tugging at his bottom lip as he grows aroused further from your soft noises of excited fear.
He runs the tip down your body, making sure to carefully scrape between your breasts during the slow descent downwards. The way your breath hitches confirms how much you’re enjoying the way he was currently threatening you and it’s enough to set him off into initiating his branding on you.
He delineates the letters of his hero name in a big font along your abdomen, an excited grin playing along his lips as the cool feeling of the knife continues to tease and taunt you of what’s to come. The pain isn’t quick when he begins truly writing them out, each mark drawn out longer than you would’ve liked as he attempted to have the utmost precision and neatness with his name claim on your skin. Your soft cries of pain egg him on to continue out of excitement and worry.
He feels a small tug at his chest once the blood begins to well up in the wounds halfway through the characters, your blood slowly streaming from them and spreading to flatten out against your skin in a faint red. His heart begins to beat faster at the reminder of him earning this moment with you after all the work he went through to make sure you were of utmost comfort in his home. Through all the fighting, the arguing, screaming, yelling; he deserves to be here with you and making you feel great.
His, once again, hardened dick presses against the plush of your thighs and his hips needily rutting against them for some purchase once he finishes spelling out the markings on your delectable skin. His face is buried deep in your neck again, whispering small reminders of who you belonged to and would always belong to with the accompaniment of small nips and affectionate kisses. He's unable to stop himself from thrusting his cock inside of you again, immediately bottoming out in his desperation for feeling the wonderful bliss of your insides.
He leans away to watch you again, breath caught in his throat from the pained pleasurable looks you give him. The way your (e/c) eyes downturn in embarrassed defiance paired with the way your walls squeeze his cock would drive anyone mad with a desire only you drew from him. He turns the knife between his fingers in a playful manner before threateningly pressing it against your neck, enough to leave a small slit big enough and leak enough blood to make his tough act believable. The way your eyes, wide and afraid, stare back up at him and continuously give him all of your attention.
With a new bout of given confidence, he leans down and licks at the blood on your neck before it can properly slide away from the cut he gave you. He smiles almost deviously at the reaction he receives from your body.
As he tends to the bruises left on your body later that night, he has to calm himself down each time he’s reminded that he is the only one that can love you and your body in such a way.

Izuku’s breakdown may decide a label for him
I know people are sad and stuff over Izuku leaving All Might, but the thing is, it’s such an incredible narrative that one of the main character’s is driven so close to depression and isolating himself so much that nobody can tell whether he’s a Hero or a Villain.
Like... all the Heroes go off and are so against Villains without listening to their story, and then one of their own turns on them - but not as someone with conflicting ideals.
He turns on them as someone who is suffering so much stress that he’s pushing everyone away so nobody has to die for him, or near him. He’s pained because he’s in an impossible situation [an impossible situation that could have been prevented, mind you] and nobody seems to know what to do for him.
He may be shadowed by Pro Heroes, but he truly is alone right now. Even if he reached out, they wouldn’t know what to do. I think All Might was his only ties to proper support, and the Pros have already shown that they keep their distance with Izuku as it is. Now he’s pushed away both.
Izuku is getting to the point now where he’s shouldering everything because nobody is pushing in and telling him to rest. That’s literally one of the things All Might wanted to tell him but didn’t.
Izuku is at the point where if one more thing happens, it’s gonna result in a mental breakdown. It’s gonna result in something destructive, to himself and/or others.
It’ll result in the Heroes finally putting two and two together; that a broken person is capable of doing something so destructive, no matter who they are.
Izuku is a Hero, but he looks like a Villain.
What happens when Izuku looks like a Villain and does something Villain-like, whether it was accidental or not?
Will anybody see it? Will anybody understand that he was at a breaking point? They can imagine, but they don’t see the lead-up to a breakdown.
That’s what happens with anybody who has been shunned by society. They’ll only see the result. And that result will be that Izuku fell over the edge and did something irreparable.
That is the point of Izuku’s descent. He wants to save Shigaraki, a Villain? He wants to give Villains in general fair chances? Well he’ll experience exactly how they feel. The brokenness and loneliness of it all.
You can sympathise all you want, but when you want to save somebody, you’ll never truly know what it was like for them until you’ve been at the bottom yourself.
Assuming this is the route Izuku will take, assuming his friends/classmates or even the Pros don’t intervene at some point before a potential breakdown, this is the way I can see it going. If Izuku isn’t stopped now, it’ll get even worse for him. He’ll probably do something irreversible.
And it will be a cry for help, but who will they see? Izuku Midoriya, the young boy driven to the brink by the failing of adults, or will they see a newfound Villain?
To them, will he be a Hero or Villain? Human or inhuman?

And the aftermath of the first battle. Featuring more OFA talk!
[No. 34 - Victory or Defeat]
The cover art for this chapter is actually pretty gorgeous. Like, wow, that HAIR. It looks so damn soft I can’t even.
Getting into the chapter itself, we get just shy of a page of flashback to Shinsou’s middle school. Several students are talking about how cool Shinsou’s quirk is, how they’ve never heard of a quirk like it, how jealous they are. One student comments on how he could make all kinds of trouble with it, while another adds on that it’d be without getting his hands dirty. She then asks Shinsou not to go around controlling them.
Past Shinsou just laughs it off and notes how everyone says that, with his internal narrative thinking about how he’d also expect bad things from someone with his ability. That person would probably turn into a criminal - a villain, even. So he’s used to everyone implying that about him. That’s just how the world works.
Back in the present, we see Shinsou gritting his teeth, while Izuku is standing over him, a bit bloody and beaten, but still victorious. Present Mic again confirms Izuku is going to the second round. Up in the stands, Kaminari nudges Katsuki’s shoulder with his own, noting how Izuku had also gotten him with that shoulder toss. Katsuki looks a bit put out, I guess? Or just distracted. He calls Kaminari dunce face, which gets a fantastic face out of Kaminari.
Artwork.
There’s a bit here about Izuku using a baiting tactic that I’m not sure whether is from Katsuki or Aizawa, since Aizawa’s thought process continues in the next panel. In either case, I am certain it’s Aizawa noting how Izuku was concentrating his quirk in just his finger, like the strength test and the throw in battle training. Izuku’s been learning from those experiences - or rather, said experiences have forced him to adapt.
As Shinsou and Izuku bow (or at least Izuku does), Present Mic comments on how the event is off to an uneventful start, before encouraging the crowds to put their hands together for their fierce competitors. As the crowds do so, Izuku is thinking about Shinsou’s words, being ‘naturally blessed’ and ‘getting to follow his dreams.’ Eventually, Izuku asks why Shinsou wants to be a hero. Shinsou turns away to start leaving the platform while replying that ‘we don’t get to choose the things we naturally admire.’
Izuku vibes deeply with this, thinking about how those feelings are just like how Izuku was before he got One For All. But as he is now, what does he say to that?
Shinsou gets his own surprise, however, when his classmates start shouting their praises from the stands above the entryway. One says how awesome Shinsou had been out there, another on how he’d had them on the edge of their seats, a third on Shinsou being the shining star of the general studies guys, and a fourth on how he’d done just as well as the guy who’d gotten third in the obstacle course (Katsuki). Shinsou looks like he has no idea how to process this. And if that’s not enough, the heroes in the crowds are also talking about him and his quirk with no small amount of admiration.
...oh man, wait, do I spy Miss Joke there with the crowds?
Why, yes it is! I don’t know if her character was fully planned or background developed at this point, but I suppose Hori must have elevated hr to more than a one-off appearance at some point. Perhaps liked her relatively simple design?
But yeah, we shift back to Shinsou and the other gen ed students as the latter point it out, and repeat how awesome he is. Shinsou says nothing for a moment, hesitating at the entrance, before speaking to Izuku. UA will consider transfers to the hero course depending on the results here. Remember that. Maybe he failed here, but he’s not giving up. He’ll show UA he’s got what it takes to make the hero course, and he’ll become a greater hero than all of the other students.
Izuku accepts this driven challenge, only to get caught in Shinsou’s quirk again. Izuku’s confused, because the match is already over. Shinsou comments on how people who respond to him tend to stiffen up like that, and how it’d be easy to mess everything up for Izuku just now. But instead he just demands a promise as he lets Izuku loose from his quirk - don’t lose in a sorry way out there. Izuku agrees again, only to again be temporarily caught in Shinsou’s quirk.
Also, it's a teeny thing here, but I know there's been people (not necessarily in here, but in general) who've questioned how shinsou's quirk works, and from here in the sports festival, what I can at least determine is this:
-his quirk can affect multiple people at once
-people don't remember what they were doing under the quirk's effect (barring Izuku for Reasons)
-his quirk takes effect when he chooses after someone responds verbally to him (sign language or writing don't work)
-it can be a statement or question someone responds to!
-general non-word noises, or non-directed sounds (ie izuku's growls of exertion) don't work as targets for shinsou's quirk
Anywho, with that, we transfer over to Recovery Girl’s temporary office, where Izuku is getting himself healed up while Toshinori hovers nearby nervously. Izuku admits that he couldn’t smile at all, and Toshinori considers that and figures this must have been a tough battle for him, given what Shinsou was saying. Izuku replies that that doesn’t make it okay for him to lose; when you’re aiming for the top, that’s just how it is, right?
Recovery Girl is not impressed with the ‘life lessons’ Toshinori is passing on to Izuku, spinning around to wallop Toshinori on his non-injury side. Toshinori tries to reply that it’s all necessary, only to be interrupted by said wallop and yelp in pain. While Toshinori is nursing his poor abused ribs, Izuku brings up the vision he had.
He saw eight or nine shadows - not sure on that - when his mind was lulled from the brainwashing, the vision appeared and snapped him out of it. In that instant, he was just barely able to move his fingertip. One of them had Toshinori’s hairstyle… so could it have been the souls of the people who have inherited One For All?
Now, a few things I have to say to this:
First off, holy SHIT did Izuku already pretty much hit the nail on the head for what’s happening here. We obviously don’t really get more about this for, what, a hundred and fifty or so chapters? I dunno when the JTA is in the manga exactly, so I’m probably off, but even before then, there’s only a few hints here and there about the whole ‘ghost’ thing happening - and yet, Izuku already is kinda sus of what’s happening after just one vision.
Secondly, while it’s way more likely that it’s Izuku being scared and confused that has him questioning the number of shadows he saw there, I also really love how it’s a perfect set-up for something Fishy if Hori so wants, while also allowing an out if he doesn’t want. It’s like, does the number mean something, or is it just a scared schoolkid struggling to remember details he only glimpsed for a moment?
In any case, we move on to Toshinori’s response to this strange vision. Mostly in that he finds it kinda scary. Izuku is confused, because he was sure Toshinori would know. Toshinori admits that he did see them once when he was young, and that it’s a clear sign Izuku is getting used to One For All.
At Izuku’s visible confusion, Toshinori continues - the shadows are traces of the quirk’s past bearers. But whatever they are, they can’t directly interfere or influence Izuku. Nor can Izuku affect them. In other words, that vision wasn’t what undid the brainwashing. Rather, it was Izuku’s protagonist powers strong will that allowed him to see those faces - and as far as Shinsou’s brainwashing, Izuku overcame it! Just for an instant! He managed to move that fingertip all on his own.
Izuku isn’t convinced, but Toshinori chastises him, telling him not to dwell on it, and shouldn’t he be worrying about his next opponent instead? Izuku agrees, and thanks both him and Recovery Girl before heading out. Only once Izuku is gone does Recovery Girl note that Toshinori’s shadow had been there too. Toshinori replies how that’s not a bad thing.
My take on this whole scene?
But yeah, it definitely is interesting how early Hori outright told us what was happening with One For All, only for it to be dismissed by Toshinori and a good chunk of the audience. I mean, I don’t know if Hori was planning everything with the vestiges and the other quirks at this point, but he sure laid the groundwork here, and I kind of love it.
Anywho, moving on from that, we shift over to Shouto making his way towards the arena for his own fight, only to run into the last person he wants to see - Endeavor. Shouto tells Endeavor to get out of his way, but Endeavor ignores him, instead calling Shouto a disgrace to him. He harps on about how Shouto could have crushed the obstacle course and the cavalry battle if he’d used his left side. Shouto says nothing as he marches himself past his father.
Endeavor tells Shouto to grow up, and stop rebelling like some petulant child. His duty is to surpass All Might. He’s different from his siblings - Endeavor’s greatest creation! Shouto asks if that’s all Endeavor has to say, then states how he’ll win this with his mom’s power alone. He’ll never use Endeavor’s power in battle. Endeavor states how that might be good enough while he’s a schoolkid, but he’ll reach his limit soon enough.
Shouto is… not in a good headspace. As we’ll see momentarily.
Izuku joins Ochako and Tenya in the stands while Present Mic starts to announce the participants of the next match. Sero Hanta, the cream of the crop, and yet somehow still as plain as they come! Versus Todoroki Shouto, the best of the best, strongest of the strong!
The match starts as Sero finishes stretching himself out, stating how he doesn’t really feel much like winning. His arms then snap forward, the tape rushing out to wrap around Shouto. Sero tugs back, yoinking Shouto into position to be swung out of the arena. Present Mic hypes up the surprise attack maneuver, and how it’s probably the best strategy for him, overall complementing how Sero’s giving it his all. Shouto, still somewhat mad-eyed, apologizes, and then-
...yikes. How Sero (or any audience members in the way) didn’t die here is a show of Shouto’s astounding control here, even if it doesn’t seem like it. The entire stadium is dead silent as Sero calls the move a bit overkill. Midnight, half-frozen as well, tentatively asks Sero if he can move. Sero asks if she’s kidding, before the frostbite starts getting to him and he starts biting back pained hisses. Midnight announces Sero’s loss, and the crowds are… pretty sympathetic, calling out good tries to him.
Shouto steps forward to start defrosting Sero, apologizing for overdoing it, stating that he’d just been annoyed. Up in the stands, Izuku watches on, with his future narration noting that, lost amid the cheers that arose from the audience, he saw Shouto defrost his own frozen self with his left hand. And to Izuku… something about Shouto seemed really sad.
Shouto is announced to be moving on to the second round, and the chapter closes.
Holy shit. This chapter is actually really something, and not just because of One For All. But still, it really is fascinating to see what groundwork laid early on in the series ended up being used way down the line by Hori as he got more comfortable with the direction he wanted his story to go in.
Anywho, see you next time for the last chapter of volume four! Which means the next bonus material post is upcoming. And I can just say there’s some interesting stuff in that as well…

"Took a child from his mother"??? I dont remember deku getting kidnapped by all might maybe i missed a chapter lmao ✋😭💀
Anyway, its not like All might or Endeavor are perfect but thats what makes them good characters. Theyre both trying to be better in their own ways and theyre starting from different points, but saying theyre the same just doesnt make sense. How is endeavors abuse equal to all might hiding things?? Sure the overall end result of both things is huge but theyre not the same. I guess you could argue the root of their actions is the same if you look at it as both of them doing what they believe is right to achieve their end goals. endeavor wanting to surpass all might and all might wanting to protect deku for as long as possible but the courses they take are drastically different, and the root being the same doesnt automatically make them the same either. I said before that the impact both things have are huge bc they are, but they're not the same either. Endeavor fucked up his entire family and hero society (through dabi) and All might is leaving deku to pick up the pieces and fix what he couldnt. I would compare all might and endeavor like you would compare coins in that they both made mistakes for specific reasons (being coins) but one went about those mistakes in a more extreme manner (worth different amounts) so like all might is a nickel where endeavor is a dime - if that makes sense? Also sorry if thats long and confusing im extremely tired and not good at putting points/an argument together. I really like your stuff and i just wanted to put my two cents in :) keep up the great work!!
right? like there must be some secret chapter we’re all missing for izuku to be taken from his mother...... but this is pretty much it!
i feel like some fans - such as ones who claim all might as as bad, if not worse than endeavor - think that other fans who adore him think he’s a perfect, upstanding citizen and flawless when he isnt. horikoshi makes all of his characters flawed, and all might is no exception. all might has struggled in the past with not being a good teacher, knowing he has placed izuku in danger and feeling guilty about it. he decided to live, at kamino, for izuku, and to become a better teacher for him. all might could have never guessed everything leading up to now, with the new powers within ofa and the war where izuku and many others were gravely injured, and hero society itself crumbling. he contributes to issues, but he’s not someone you can solely blame. and he has issues even right now (possibly holding back information about the fourth holder), and fans do wish he wouldn’t. but its possible he has reasons he thought are good enough, if it be to protect izuku from something gruesome or maybe because hes just not ready to disclose it. it could also feed into how all might is not great at disclosing secrets in general, his position of number one for so long and having to hide ofa contributing to that trait of his. it isnt great, it just makes him flawed like all humans are.
he’s made mistakes, but like you said they aren’t comparable, endeavor’s actions were much more extreme... as a fan of both characters, it baffles me how some people will defend endeavor to such an extent, that they try to water his actions down,.. to make all might seem worse, or to go “see, what endeavor did wasn’t so bad”.. because it is. he hurt and abused his family for his own selfish desires. and while he has become aware of the pain he has inflicted, it doesn’t erase what he did. wish some ppl could like characters like endeavor without defending them to such an extreme. its fine to admit your favourite is also a horrible person - and unfortunately, its a trend in several characters. (bakugou and the villains, namely). i think its fine to compare them in the sense that they’re both people and teachers who have made errors in regards to children they’re responsible of, and are trying to change that, but the actions themselves cant be compared since they’re not on the same scale.
really, the only thing this person got right was all might’s tendency to hide secrets and how he shouldnt - which i think many of us agree with. they really came out and said all might forced his dream onto a young child and caused him to be so reckless, disregarding the fact that being a hero was izuku’s dream. being reckless is something he always was. all might just gave him the chance to enter the unthinkable world to a quirkless child. and while perhaps he could’ve had a talk with deku regarding his own safety... a lot of times where deku is hurt to such an extent, all might doesn’t know. its often part of a result due to izuku running off on his own, and not telling many if any people. all might isnt always aware of where deku is 24/7
he wasn’t prepared or planning for deku to be so involved in everything at such a young age. perhaps its partially an oversight on his part... but in no regard should that be held to the exact same standard of endeavor abusing and traumatizing his family. both all might and endeavor, as people, have recognized their faults, one person’s sins being much more extreme than the other.

Ninja Academy vs Hero School Rant
Naruto was my jam back in the day. I stayed up late to watch the new episodes, bought the dvd box sets and manga volumes, collected toys and cards just to stare at adoringly, even pretended to be sick so that I could stay home and watch a Naruto marathon. Point is, I LOVED Naruto.
I was invested in the characters. My heart ached for every single character that gave me a backstory. I ugly cried on more than ten occasions.
The action and moral dilemmas sucked me in and spit me out, made me the person I am today thinking critically about the stuff I love because wow that universe is in no way safe or sane for the people living in it lol.
The villains absolutely TERRIFIED me DESPITE STILL WANTING TO SEE MORE OF THEM, Orochimaru alone had me sleeping with the lights on and ripping the arms off his action figure just to be safe.
When I started watching My Hero Academia those old happy feelings started slapping me in the face drawing me in. MHA hits a lot of the same points that Naruto had and I didn’t really notice until the end of season 3 because those points weren’t as in-your-face or emotionally impactful as it was in Naruto I guess. Not to say it didn’t have an impact! Just that it rolled off me a lot easier which might just be a me problem.
I Mean:
The main character getting bullied/excluded because of something he can’t control.
Underdog character then meeting or making an emotional connection with a mentor figure truly feeling “acceptance” for maybe the first time and taking that all important first step toward their life long dream.
A teacher willing to sacrifice himself to protect the students.
A school training teens to protect/serve.
Rivalry that may or may not be actual friendship.
Students fighting against each other to “rank up” by showing how capable they are to their superiors.
Enemies invading to terrorize the kids and escaping to terrorize another day.
Traumatic family backstories that child will now attempt to seek justice through own power.
Previous underdog character actually having a secret power that no one knows about but a select few and that he has to train to learn how to use, but it makes him a powerhouse that is always surprising the enemy and inspiring his fellows.
Sure all that can be tied to any story when generalized like this, but the way MHA presents them is pretty similar to Naruto.
(Okay, ALL OF THIS is going to be my personal opinion. Things I want to say to get out of my system so that I can move on. It’s long too. So, now that you’ve been warned continue on.)
The more I got into it the stranger it felt because despite hitting those same points I loved they hit in a different way that....well... made me a little uncomfortable to sit through.
Like Aizawa
Very clearly the Kakashi in MHA. He’s sly hardly ever telling his students the truth but has incredibly high expectations of them, has been known to expel students left and right until his most recent batch of kids, is ready and willing to throw himself in harms way for them, and surprisingly competent despite his exhausted persona/personality. However the way these two teachers act get two very different results from me. Naruto got a chance to introduce Kakashi in a way that endeared him to me, the bell test was more than just showcasing the kids current abilities it was introducing Kakashi (the Jounin that is a kind of jack of all trades, the known perv that will publicly read porn, the guy that will happily mess with a bunch of kids to “teach them a lesson” and because its funny, the guy that requires the students under his care to care about each other because caring for his team matters to him more than any mission, that guy). MHA gave the quirk test. Aizawa mostly in the background taking notes and jotting down scores after his speech about expelling whoever comes last. We didn’t get to hear Aizawa’s thoughts until the very end when Izuku surprised him.
I didn’t really feel any connection toward Aizawa until I stumbled across fanfics that wrote him more involved with the students and I think that’s the problem. Aizawa is dedicated to his student’s education, he believes they will all be amazing heroes one day, but he hardly ever interacts with them. He can be seen watching their training from afar, sleeping in a corner as another teacher takes over for a bit, protecting them from danger or fighting along side them, and proudly declaring that Bakugo would never turn villain but all of that means very little emotionally when I can’t see him making connections with these students to make this standoffish confidence understandable. He comes off as one of those super smart teachers that have undecipherable lessons because he has no idea how to connect with his students enough to explain in way they understand. Similarly, he like jots down that he’s taking note of Bakugo and might need to step in before he goes down the wrong path but then does nothing and confidently tells the press Bakugo would never be a villain.
Kakashi was pretty standoffish too, no denying that, and the little episodes when the kids conspire to try to see him without his mask are the kind of outside interactions that would be weird for a modern teacher-student relationship like in MHA, so I get why Aizawa doesn’t really have that with any of the kids. However, Kakashi saw the path Sasuke was going down and spent time with him and confronted him about it (it did nothing to stop him but he tried). He took time to find a teacher for Naruto. He was present and awake for just about every milestone in there education with him. He told them when he was proud of them not other people. He involved himself in some of their high jinks to measure their growth and as such was able to have confidence in them when they went off on their own.
The Villains
And My Hero Academia villains, namely All For One.
I felt nothing when he showed up. I was all caught up in All Might and his passing of the torch. The guy without eyes didn’t feel threatening, didn’t feel like the big bad he was suppose to be. The League of Villains really didn’t feel like “serious enemies” either cause I actually really enjoyed them when they were on screen for their dynamics with each other. Similar to how I liked the Akatsuki in their more light-hearted scenes when they where super strong idiots banded together by sheer force of will and explosive personalities that refuse to leave a job half finished. With the League I would be just as entertained (probably more so) if they were in a slice of life anime just being terrible people together.
I get the feeling All For One was supposed to be MHA’s Orochimaru. (And I say this despite knowing Orochimaru’s introduction is probably a lot closer to Stain what with the confrontation and all, but his whole “the world is corrupt, I will cut out the wrong and remake it into the pure world it should have always been” aligned more with Pain especially with his quick turnabout saving Izuku.)
Orochimaru always felt in control even when he was in hiding or on the run, he felt like he had more up his sleeve which is the only thing I got from All For One when he was imprisoned. Both Orochimaru and All For One showed up out of nowhere, very obviously in a class of their own that the teenage main characters had no hope of beating, and a mysterious backstory that clearly put all the adults in the know on edge. But I just don’t see All For One as a villain. Nothing about him screamed “Run for your lives this man will smile as he tears you apart!” like Orochimaru. Nothing about All For One’s secret Mad Scientist lab gave me creepy vibes that left me on the edge of my seat clutching at the nearest pillow the way the Sound Village that practically worshiped Orochimaru and the many base of operations he had did.
Terrible Parents
The Todoroki family.
...
Look. The world of Naruto has terrible parenting, but they also live in a dictator/military run nation where kids can be a front-line defense or key players in a war zone so it’s hard to measure how to view these people. Cause a father that beats his kid and yells at him to get stronger has genuine reasons to rightfully freak out when children as young as 8 get sent to ninja academy. Families that have a rare genetic trait like the Hyuga or Uchiha have every right to be tough and stern if they feel that will protect their kids when they know putting them out into the world makes them an easier target for enemies that would rip out their eyes.
I can judge their actions based on their consequences. Like the Uchiha clan planning a revolt forcing their eldest to massacre them to keep the peace and their youngest to live with a crazy amount of trauma. Like the Hyuga clan branding their branch members to protect family eyes, but forcing them into being lesser than the main branch and all the trauma that forced on Neji’s poor head. The stupid level of expectation set on Hinata’s young shoulders that she couldn’t meet in the way her clan wanted that made her self-confidence practically non existent. The Hokage leaving Naruto mostly alone for his entire childhood in a village that openly hated him. The Kazekage trying to have his lonely three-year-old assassinated multiple times once by his beloved uncle - the only person that was kind and loved him - that scarred him so entirely that he carved “love” into his forehead and rampaged around the village and did casual murder intentionally for years before meeting Naruto.
All that... I can get behind as abuse. I want those sad kids to be happy. They deserved better and I will happily lose myself in a fix-it fic where they get that.
MHA gives me similar scenarios but without the clear-cut consequences that shows when parenting for that world is abuse.
Endeavor is not a good husband. He is emotionally abusive to his wife to the point she has a mental break and attacks a child.
However, in a world of heroes, in a world where high school students are trained to protect and serve and that self sacrifice is a noble heroic trait. How do I compare such a society to my own? They put children in harms way with hero internships yet don’t allow them to defend themselves if they don’t have a hero license, that would be like getting a learners permit but not being allowed to practice driving.
All this to say I have a hard time telling when bad parenting falls into abuse when it comes to MHA. Endeavor is not a good parent, he is an abusive husband, but is he an abusive parent? As a hero training up the next generation of heroes can it be argued that he is pretty okay even if his methods are a little harsh? None of his children fear him from what I’ve seen. Shouto happily tells him his plans to never use his fire and all the reasons why without fearing he might be punished for it. The other kids seem to be pretty okay going on with their lives. Toya being the exception but again I don’t know what happened to him and he’s a follower of Stain so did he have a falling out with heroes or did his father push too hard?
Nighteye & Tsunade
Okay so this is where I get super rant-y. I have feelings on Nighteye and none of them good.
Nighteye being the estranged comrade of All Might the underdog’s teacher, Tsunade being the estranged comrade of Jiraiya Naruto’s teacher.
Tsunade has been hurt deeply. She ran because she felt that was the only way to save herself from more pain. Here comes Jiraiya with his new little tag along demanding she come back home, she gets appropriately angry and tries everything she can to get them to leave her alone. Naruto being the special little underdog that he is immediately gets under her skin reminding her of all the loved ones she lost bringing back all of that old pain back, so she gets even. She beats him down and challenges him to an impossible challenge to show him how small he really is and get out of her own responsibilities. But he wins. He wins, and shows Tsunade how closed off she’s become forcing her to face reality head on and face her fears at last. He changes her whole world view through action.
Nighteye has been hurt deeply. He sees the future for every person he touches and as such sees futures in which people he loves get hurt and sometimes die. He believes there is nothing he or anyone can do to change these visions. All Might is his hero, His friend and mentor, his comrade. His friend gets hurt in a way he can never fully recover from and he sees a vision where his friend dies on the battle field. He then tells All Might who refuses to retire and leaves without a backward glance. They don’t speak until years later when Nighteye picks out a successor for One For All, but Toshi chooses Izuku and never meets Nighteye’s pick.
Izuku, needing an internship not Gran Torino, goes to Sir Nighteye All Might’s old side kick. He gets tested, told he’s not worthy of One For All, and has to work under this man as he tries to get Izuku to see how Mirio is more worthy of All Might’s quirk. Facing off against Overhaul when they are at their most desperate Nighteye uses his quirk to see what will happen and sees the worst possible scenario. They lose. Then Izuku flies in sweeps Eri into his arms and fights Overhaul saving the day. Izuku proved, unknowingly, that the future Nighteye sees is not set in stone with his actions and on his death bed Nighteye acknowledges that without acknowledging it.
Nighteye’s treatment toward Izuku makes me uncomfortable. This is a man in a position of power over this student telling him that he is not enough, will never be enough, and that he is a disappointment.
His glorifying of All Might makes me uncomfortable. He was All Might’s partner and yet he practically had a shrine of the man in his office. He made him more than just a man, built him up as The Symbol of Peace and kept him there (as many of Toshi’s friends seem to do except for Nedzu and Naomasa) despite getting close enough trusted enough to learn about One For All. And despite all that “love” and “devotion” he left Toshinori alone to deal with his new normal of a permanently damaged system alone for years then takes out all that frustration and grief out on his friends chosen successor.
Then when all is said and done and he’s dying and he’s confronted by Toshinori and Izuku what happens? Does he apologize? Explain his actions? Get closure in his final moments?
No. Well, Toshinori got some measure of closure. Izuku got a few words that essentially boiled down to “Good job, your better than I thought.” without talking about the newfound hope Izuku’s action gave him that his visions are only possibilities not absolute. All of his attention then goes to his choice for One For All, Mirio.
Understandably.
He’s dying and Mirio was always his main priority as a mentor, and you know who Mirio looks like? All Might. He’s blonde, buff, blue-eyed, cheerfully friendly, and with a happy-go-lucky persona about him. Sir Nighteye taught him to smile. Chose him to be the new wielder of One For All and without telling him anything planned to introduce him to Toshinori to make his choice reality. Doesn’t that sound... I don’t know... uncomfortably close to manipulation? Grooming? To taking this child under his wing and molding him to be pretty close to a new version of All Might?
I don’t know. Maybe if Sir Nighteye had lived this uncomfortable impression I have of him would be lessened as he began to internalize the full extent of possibilities for the future that he never thought possible before and acted more hopeful, more willing to take gambles because his visions were no longer a guarantee of what will happen.

Some random bits of trivia about With Great Power
Now with a Part 2.
It seems one or two people are interested in this. I’ve mentioned a few of these points on my favorite Discord server, but I might as well put them all together here. Spoilers for the fic below!
Why didn’t All for One squish Aizawa like a bug when he should have been perfectly capable of it, right after taking the poor man’s quirk? It’s because All for One was planning for the future. He knew that Izuku (as Supreme Overlord) would need capable underlings, preferably ones with Izuku’s best interests in mind. Of the people close to Izuku, Aizawa was the closest to meeting All for One’s approval in both respects. In his stalking observation of Izuku over the past few years, he developed just a bit of a grudging respect for the man and his dedication to attempting to keep Izuku from charging headlong into every dangerous situation Izuku was within a 100 km radius of. While Aizawa decided to assume that All for One was too busy fending off other heroes to actually bother squishing him, this was an entirely deliberate choice on All for One’s part.
On the subject of Aizawa, the cat cafe he stayed at is the cat cafe from the Vigilantes manga. It made a truly fantastic retirement home, as well as a safe place to keep track of the criminal underworld on the sly.
We know that Shouto Todoroki had time to talk to Dabi/Touya before the interviews, because they came with a hero reform plan. This definitely happened because Shouto marched up to the National Diet Building, and calmly told a very nervous Kurogiri that he was there to see Dabi. When Dabi appeared, he half-dragged the supervillain brother home for a proper family dinner. It was a bit awkward but Fuyumi was happy to have all the siblings together. Between that and Shouto’s determination to hammer out a plan for hero reform, the ice was broken surprisingly quickly (pun intended).
Why didn’t Izuku notice All for One being Hisashi sooner? Well, denial is definitely a thing. There’s also the dissonance between linking a parental figure with the world’s most feared supervillain, absentee or not - that’s a pretty difficult conclusion to come to, normally. There’s even the fact that Izuku saw All for One in person all of twice - once at Kamino, and then again in the first chapter of this fic - and both times were very emotionally charged, with an impression skewed by the view that he was seeing a Terrible Monster, which makes All for One hard to recognize out of the literal and metaphorical mask. But the biggest reason? Long-term sleep deprivation and stress. It was pretty bad before he was suddenly pushed into being the Supreme Overlord of Japan, and it got much worse after. If Izuku had more sleep, he’d probably have figured out Hisashi’s identity much sooner, denial or not; Hisashi wasn’t being subtle (see below).
Hisashi looked so selfless when he left even the clothes on his back to Izuku. Don’t fall for it; he left all legal assets to Izuku. He has plenty that aren’t legal. All this was part of his preparation for a plan that didn’t happen...
Because Hisashi planned to disappear again, permanently. He expected the jig to be up as soon as Izuku heard Hisashi speak once (a bit egotistic of him). His original plan was to spend as much time with Inko as he could while offering a bit of behind-the-scenes support of Izuku’s rule, and then when Izuku inevitably came home and recognized him, he’d properly disappear to a nice sheep farm somewhere remote (he had a few prospects already picked out). He’d hoped that Izuku wouldn’t be interested enough in the returned Hisashi Midoriya to actively track him down, but it was a risk he had to take to turn things over to Izuku properly. After he heard Izuku ranting to his friends that he was getting ready to stake out his own home (through those convenient bugs left in the National Diet Building), he decided to at least make sure the reveal was on his own terms, somewhere relatively private and secure. Then Izuku didn’t recognize him and even tried to hire him, and Hisashi quickly rearranged his plans to account for the delayed recognition. He knew it was inevitable; Hisashi couldn’t clean up all the clues, so he ended half-assing any attempts at hiding his identity in order to at least keep control of the timeline for the reveal. As long as it happened while Izuku was still in government, he could head for the hills (literally and metaphorically) and Izuku would be too busy to pursue him. He couldn’t bring himself to actually sit down and tell Izuku personally, but he didn’t expect to keep things a secret permanently. And then Izuku smashed all his expectations and offered a chance to not lose his family again. A lot of plans got ditched. Basically, All for One was never as on top of things in this fic as he makes himself out to be.
Speaking of hiding his identity, why did he keep his real name? Hisashi didn’t see the point for the vast majority of his life, barring times he specifically went incognito for this or that venture. The government wanted to cover up his existence anyway; why not let them do the hard work? He didn’t need to make things easier for them, and it’s not like they could really do anything effectively to him; he really was that powerful. He did keep his businesses anonymous for the most part, but it was a private joke to him that they were still all perfectly legal, up to and including no false names being involved. It was only when All Might showed up and proved to be an actual threat that Hisashi realized his mistake and took his own steps to conceal his identity - which were surprisingly effective, as the government had done too good of a job already, and All for One just had to clear out a few old compromising records to avoid All Might accessing them and finding his real name, which would have been a massive pain. He had several close calls, but his panicky attempts at hiding his identity actually paid off. The government fire is part of that - definitely All for One’s work, but done a bit hastily, and as a result, sloppily.
Remember how All for One didn’t talk to Izuku much after the UN speech? Remember how he mentioned that Izuku should get a new phone? He was sulking for that entire trip because he heard Izuku call Yagi “Dad”, thanks to his stalking keeping an ear on Izuku’s conversations.
On a different note, Izuku, throughout this fic, has adapted All for One’s own strategies for his own purposes. Of special note, though, is Izuku’s speech at the end of Chapter 10, beginning with “I don’t think you understand, Hisashi.” It’s deliberately meant to mirror All for One’s speech in Chapter 1, that starts with “I don’t think you understand, Izuku.” Instead of physical threats, Izuku uses emotional threats against All for One to go for the jugular - which is also something All for One presented as a strategy (see Chapter 7, the UN chapter). If Izuku’s threat is more effective, it’s because Izuku is proving All for One’s own point about taking the effective parts of others’ strategies and adapting them for his own use.
Why was Yagi so accepting of All for One prospectively walking free? It’s because he’d already seen it work with Tenko Shimura. He saw Tenko as lost forever, as an irredeemable villain. While I don’t mean to say that any of the villains are redeemed, Yagi has had a front-row seat to witness Tenko taking up legitimate work, making decent friends, and generally leaving behind his destructive impulses, something Yagi thought was completely impossible and had given up on long ago as a futile and unrealistic dream. He’s started to believe in the power of second chances.
The Second Chance foundation was, in part, inspired by @redrobin-detective‘s fic, “rise up and hear the bells”, and Izuku’s All for One foundation. I might’ve come up with the idea on my own, but reading that fic ensured the idea came quicker. I think I can safely say I took the concept in my own direction, but it definitely came from somewhere!
There’s a number of nods in WGP to various fics by AMournfulHowlInTheNight. The biggest is Rick, who several people noted bore a passing resemblance to Zach from the CWAC series (I couldn’t resist; Australia just seemed right for the role I needed there, and a character like Zach seemed like the right Australian). The astute reader might also have noted several mentions to offering a “helping hand”, a phrasing which was an entirely deliberate reference to A Helping Hand in the Dark. Chapter 7 even has the sentence, “I want to offer a helping hand to those lost in the darkness.”
I already gave an answer key for who the All for One sockpuppets are in Chapter 6, but here are the usernames of the other canon characters: pikapika579 : Kaminari. GoGoGadgeteer : Hatsume, of course. Explosion King @lordexplosionmurder : Three guesses, first two don’t count. I hear the sins of humanity @theultimateearbud : Jirou. And finally... that dude with the eyes @eyescream : This guy from Izuku’s middle school (apologies for the poor quality).
If I remember any more tidbits I wanted to share, I might post more later, but hope you enjoy these!

No new art really, if you've seen my original post on the MHA amino then you know where this is fucking going. Right down to Angstville because for some reason I'm obsessed with hurting my favorite Goth Jesus. You'd think I'd talk about my "Stain's Redemption" AU first since I've mentioned it but hahahaha
Y o u w e r e w r o n g ;´)
I straight up just copied and pasted my original post because I'm lazy but I REALLY wanted to share this with Tumblr lmao
Warning for (potential) manga spoilersss
Alrighty sinners, Let's get to the post itself then. Shall we?
·············
So let me just address something real quick about how I feel about the latest chapters of the MHA manga:
Seeing Aizawa cry has to be the most heart breaking thing I've seen in MHA (outside of the whole deal with Eri, sweet baby child ;-;)
And I completely FLIPPED when it was revealed that Shirakumo was BASICALLY turned into Kurogiri and just I'M CRYING--Cloud Angel Baby NOOOOOO!!!
They all deserved better than this T-T
Anywho enough about my grieving over fictional characters, let's talk about my AU, inspired by these recent chapters. Note that I'm a terrible writer. I guess this also includes a snippet of what I plan to write for this AU since it transitions from explanation to literature at some point just because I was kinda bored. Imma let you know right now that I'm a shit writer so uuuuh bear with me.
---------
The Reticent AU takes place in an Alternate Universe where Shirakumo is ALIVE and separate from Kurogiri. Instead of Loud Cloud being turned into a Nomu, Eraserhead is turned into one. His appearance for the most part remains the same, minus the scars all over his body, including around the neck, from experimentation.
He barely speaks due to pain he feels when he does talk and has no recollection of his life before being a Nomu, not even his own name. He manages to escape the League of Villains at some point and "befriends" the Hero Killer: Stain, or well more like the other way around (only because I find Stain befriending an emotionless mute to be funny). He finds Stain's views of false hero-hood and admiration for All Might quite contradictory yet amusing and lets him live during their first encounter.
It is rather hard to say whether he is a villain or a vigilante. He'll kill only if necessary but his intentions and motivations are unknown. He despises All Might as the Symbol of Peace. It gives false hope to the people as well as a false sense of security. He found it completely revolting. Aizawa did believe in good people, but All Might isn't one of them in his books. Pretty much considered one only because he's hanging around with Stain.
He never gave himself a name, nor did he care all that much for it, it was Stain who dubbed him with the alias "Reticent", meaning not revealing one's thoughts or feelings readily. He was never one for being open for as long as he could remember.
It's rather fitting, so Reticent keeps the given name.
·············
* I didn't know Shirakumo was tan, not white before I made the art (forgive me)
Oboro Shirakumo A.K.A Loud Cloud is currently the homeroom teacher of our beloved Class 1-A and best friend of our resident screaming banana, Present Mic. They have given up on their dream to start an agency due to the loss of their closest friend from high school. Fifteen years ago when they were still students at UA, Shota Aizawa had gone missing and authorities concluded that he was dead. It was such a heartbreak to Shirakumo and Yamada, that hurt never fully healed.
Shirakumo is still a friendly and nurturing spirit at heart, but not as open with his feelings anymore. He's more reserved with his thoughts and feelings. He's a reticent person.
He takes an instant liking to Ejirou Kirishima and Hitoshi Shinso. Kirishima's friendship with the explosive Katsuki Bakugou reminds him of his friendship with Shota. Their personalities seemed so different, yet their bond had remained solid and strong. As for Shinso, the purple haired teen reminded him of his old friend. He could see the growing potential in these two and takes them both under his wing. The three of them train together outside of school and the Kirishima and Shinso form a close friendship with each other along with their sensei. Both children are like sons to Shirakumo, he thinks that Shota would like them too if he were still here.
·············
So... Izuku Midoriya, the "villain magnet" of class 1-A, ended up finding himself standing face-to-face with the Hero Killer: Stain and... his partner? The news never reported anything on him having a partner. How strange. Either Stain's partner is a very recent addition or this guy was really good at covering his own tracks.
"Stain, leave them be. They are just mere children. Killing them would serve no purpose to your cause. I wouldn't waste your time with Native either. "
Midoriya grimaced at the sore and raspy voice. It sounded painful, but he could hear the underlying threat. The Hero Killer sighed and backed off from Iida's paralyzed body.
The two villains left before Todoroki had arrived.
"I think that's the first time I've ever seen you smile."
Agakuro sat down next to Reticent, who was currently petting a stray cat, and offered him some fruit. The smaller man hummed quietly and took a few slices of apple. Both men sat quietly with the soft purring of the stray.
"I've been meaning to ask, what is your quirk exactly? You can erase quirks, but you can also manipulate basic elements and the blood in people's bodies."
Reticent signed, 'I have more than one.'
"More than one quirk?" Stain cocked an eyebrow.
Reticent nodded and quietly spoke, "Nomu."
"I've heard about their appearances here in Hosu. They are these large looking creatures with their brains exposed. You sure as hell don't look like one of 'em." Agakuro mused as he chewed on some cantaloupe. His friend was making his signals again.
I was suppose to be a more perfected Nomu. All for One took care of my progress himself.'
"Is that why you have so many..."
'Yes.'
·············
"Principal Nezu?" Shirakumo and Yamada stood in the white creature's office. Both men wondering why they were called to see him.
"Ah Loud Cloud and Present Mic! I apologize for pulling you out of your classes, but it seems you both are being called to assist Gran Torino with something he found." Nezu explained. The two men in the room looked at each other confused.
"What does he need us for?"
"Well it seems that they have another one of those Nomus in custody. I think you may remember the name Shota Aizawa?"
·············
Shirakumo was BEYOND annoyed about the situation. It must be a mistake. Their old friend was not some gruesome quirk experiment accompanying the Hero Killer. Shota Aizawa wanted to be a hero, despite feeling that he was inadequate for such due to the nature of his quirk. It has to be a mistake.
"How much longer-"
"Calm down will you! I'm frustrated about this too. There's no way it could be him, but... who knows."
They arrived at the police station withing a few minutes and walk inside. They see Gran Torino standing there waiting for them. They follow him to where Tsukauchi is finishing up with questioning the person inside. Looking through the window, Shirakumo and Yamada's eyes widen with disbelief. The other person looked just like...
"Ah Present Mic, Loud Cloud. Thank you for arriving on such short notice. I know you are both very busy men."
The two Pro-Heros turn to the detective as he stepped out of the interrogation room. Present Mic appeared alarmed and Shirakumo just looked... mad.
"Well it appears that he doesn't remember anything before being experimented on. We have a case of amnesia on our hands."
Shirakumo practically growled,"Experimented on? What the hell are you going on about detective!?" Why was Tsukauchi being so damn vague?
"That man in there is indeed Shota Aizawa. His base quirk of Erasure is still there and DNA results confirm this. From what I'm gathering, fifteen years ago he was kidnapped and had been subjected to illegal drug testing as well as having multiple quirks forced into his body. He's a more sophisticated Nomu it seems."
"More 'sophisticated'? What stopped him from having brains popping out of his skull like all the others we've seen?" The voice hero questioned. Something wasn't adding up here.
"All for One..."
The other three men became tense.
"Isn't... Isn't that the villain All Might fought at Kamino Ward?"
"According to him, it seems that All for One was the one who did this to him personally, there was extra care in your friend's 'recreation'. As to what his added quirks are, we're not sure yet of what they are or even of how many."
Gran Torino turned to the younger men,"We were hoping that you two would talk to him. Maybe to help trigger any memories from before his disappearance."
"So what? You think the 'power of friendship' is going to magically bring back his memories?" Shirakumo scoffed at how ridiculous that would actually be.
"No, but miracles do happen. I've seen many things during my time. They are rare, but they happen."
"Shirakumo," Present Mic started, "if there is even a slim possibility of getting Sho's memories back, shouldn't we at least try? For him?"
Shirakumo sighed at his words, "Fine. For Shota's sake."
The two younger men walk inside.
--------
"Shota?"
'Who were they talking about? Is that his name?'
After the detective had left the room, two other men had walked in. He assumed they were Pros based on the costumes. No normal person dressed in THAT much leather (referring to Present Mic).
"Do you... remember us, Shota? Hizashi and I?"
It looks like they ARE talking to him. He shook his head no. This was the first time he has seen these two men. The way they were looking at him made him uncomfortable.
"Sho...ta? Is... that my name?"
The two men standing winced at his croaking voice. In all honesty, he would sign, but he had no clue if these two even knew sign language. So he just resorted to talking.
"Do you remember your own name?"
"No."
"Do you... remember us?"
The raven haired man shook his head, 'No.'
"Is... Shota my name? Do you know me? I'm sorry I- I'm just... so confused."
His voice was so raspy and weak. Black hair covered the scar under his eye. Hizashi and Oboro wore sad looks on their faces at the sound. The taller of the two, Oboro, knelt down by the man's knees.
"Yes. We do know you. Your name is Shota Aizawa. You were once a member of UA's class 2-A about fifteen years ago." Oboro started as he gently pried one of Shota's hands from the yellow blanket the officers gave him. His arm was covered in scars... like his legs. God only knows what they did to him all those years. Hizashi just observed their movements, unsure of what to do he added on to what Shirakumo said.
"You love cats and taking naps, you were the most rational one out of the three of us. All three of us had dreams of starting an agency together..."
The two pro-heros continued talking for what felt like hours. Shota listened to every word as they recounted their old adventures from highschool. Maybe with enough luck, they could help Shota get him memory back. Shirakumo was starting to think that the raven wasn't ever getting his old memories back until...
"Sushi... I- We had a cat named Sushi?"
Hizashi had flung himself so fast to Shota as he held onto him tightly and cried. Shirakumo also had a tear-streaked face, but he held a blinding smile as he watched Shota awkwardly pat the blond's back.
Miracles do happen.
More of this angst shit coming soon ;)

Bacon Ice Cream
Aptly named bc of the thing that inspired it
WC - 3137 || Ao3
Pairing - Kirishima x Izuku
Mostly Kirishima POV
Warnings - Self-Destructive issues. NSFW, Underage (Characters are 16), horny teenage boys, Frotting, Praise Kink (giving), very slight dom/sub, touch-sensitivity. Swearing. Izuku Tops, Kirishima Bottoms.
A/N - This is abnormal in which it’s characters underage. Do not ask for this in requests. It made the most sense to me writing this that they had to be younger than 3rd years for this to work. I could’ve cut it off, but it’s also partially a gift for the person it was inspired by.
Normally, normally he could let this god-forsaken feeling out during Hero training. Unfortunately for him, it was school break and he had opted to stay at the dorms instead of going home. A few of the others had done the same, and less had made it a point to go home on weekends. Overall there were significantly fewer people around. Which meant fewer people to pick a play-fight with. Normally Bakugo would be somebody he could rely on for this, even disguising it as having too much energy. Bakugo had actually, for once, let Kaminari take him out shopping with a teacher’s company.
Which left him...with one person he could solidly rely on to help him. Someone he felt...maybe wouldn’t judge him? His stomach did flip-flops at the thought he would.
Swallowing thickly, he found the green-haired boy sitting in the common room doing the assignments they were given before break. Of course he was. “Hey, Midoriya!” He chirped casually, hands in the pockets of his shorts, “Think I could...ask you a favor?”
“Kirishima! Hey, yeah of course!” Izuku perked up and set his pencil down, even closing his notebook.
It made Kirishima’s heart squeeze at how he always gave him his full attention. “Think you and I could...go ask permission to use one of the training grounds or something?”
“Oh! Training together sounds like a really good idea-”
“No Quirks.” That brought Izuku to a halt. Green eyes met red and Kirishima bore into him with his gaze.
The open shocked mouth faded into a set thin line, and Kirishima’s stomach jumped as he was graced with an intense gaze of Izuku’s own. “If you want to fight, no Quirks, then there’s a spot in the forest I can take you to. I’ve only seen Hatsume there, and All Might’s the person who showed it to me.”
“So it’s your spot, right?” Kirishima hummed, “Don’t tell anyone else about it? Don’t go there without you?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“I can do that. Should we at least throw on our gym clothes?”
“If you want. It’s easier to explain if we get caught. I’m not too worried about it though. There’s still plenty of daylight out for anybody to care.”
With a shrug, Kirishima turned back around, “I’ll meet you back here in ten.”
X
“So...what’s this about, Kirishima?”
They were at least doing stretches so they wouldn’t pull any muscles when Izuku blurted that, and Kirishima froze. Of course Izuku would ask, of course he wouldn’t leave it be. He couldn’t be mad, no...Izuku really cared about his friends and the pinch he saw between the other boy’s brows reminded him of that.
“I didn’t want to ask while we were still at the dorms…” Izuku murmured, stretching his arm out some more but the thin-lipped expression pulled into a frown the longer Kirishima was silent.
“I need you to punch me. Straight up. That’s all.”
Izuku stared at him, frozen mid-stretch. “That’s all?”
“Look, we can honestly just call this off and I can find something else to do if you think it’s weird or somethin’-”
“Stop, stop, that’s not…” Izuku held his hands up and moved closer hesitantly, taking stock of how tense Kirishima was, “It’s okay. I’m not going to call you weird or abnormal. I just want to know what’s up. Is that too much to ask? You came to me out of the blue asking me to train, now you’re saying you want...need me to punch you. That was a very specific word choice, Kirishima.”
Was it? He hadn’t really thought about it, it just slipped out. He could tell him...right? After all, they had come all the way out here… "If I have an outward problem, I don't have to worry about the internal ones…" he grumbled, gripping his hands into fists in front of him, "Is that enough of an answer?"
So he wanted bruises? Maybe a split lip so he could nurse the injuries and have something to focus on? Izuku took a deep breath, "I think I get it. I'll help...but I want you to know I'm here to talk, too." He sighed and hopped back a few paces, determination back on his face, "Come at me, then. Let me feel it." 'Show me how upset you are…'
So the fight was on, and as it turns out, Kirishima had a lot of built-up feelings. It wasn't even anger, really. Frustration maybe. Schoolwork getting under his skin, Bakusquad riling him up, a bunch of little things piling up and up until it felt like he was going to burst.
This was a good way to let it out. A healthy way. The pain helped clear his head, but now he was here he didn't want to back down. He wanted to know who would win this fist-to-fist manly fight.
After going until they were dirty and sweaty, it turns out...it was Izuku. One leg pinning down Kirishima's legs, straddling him as he leaned over and pinned his arms down.
The boys heaved hard, and Izuku leaned forward even more until their noses brushed and his bangs tickled Kirishima's forehead. "Kirishima?" He panted heavily, "You good?"
The redhead couldn't help but be in awe. It wasn’t like he got to spar with Izuku much outsides of training their quirks. Which usually had them ending in a draw, out of breath and no real end in sight. This though? This result made Kirishima realize while they both would definitely be sporting equally tender bruises from their strength, Izuku had the upper hand in acrobatics. A lot of the time Kirishima ended up blocking and consciously trying to make sure not to let his Hardening activate, where Izuku had looked like he sped across the ground with full cowling but he wasn’t.
As they continued to breathe, Kirishima came to the realization that Izuku hadn’t moved even though he hadn’t tried to fight back. Wasn’t it over? Didn’t he win? Shifting his weight it slammed into him like a freight train. That fight...the adrenaline...he gulped hard as he froze and his eyes went wide.
Their cocks were straining against their gym pants.
Now while Izuku stayed irritatingly calm, Kirishima was having an internal crisis and his breathing turned labored. He liked Izuku well enough. Was this alright? Was he waiting to see if he’d be disgusted? For someone who was an open book about his emotions, Kirishima couldn’t quite figure out what he was thinking right now when he needed to the most. He noticed he was shaking in the other boy’s grip and he didn’t know what to do about it.
Izuku was still really close. He’d only moved away a fraction when Kirishima had shifted before he realized what was going on. With the redhead about to have a panic attack, he tilted his head and a gasp left Kirishima as surprisingly stupidly soft lips brushed along his jaw to whisper in his ear, “You alright? I’ll stop. We won’t talk about it. I just…” those sweet lips kissed at Kirishima’s neck, “I don’t want you to regret this...regret me…”
Lashes fluttering, Kirishima keened softly in his throat, “Wouldn’t dream of it…” he murmured back, a puddle in Izuku’s grip. Who knew his neck was so sensitive? “M’alright...but Midoriya...what if we’re...ya know, caught? By Hatsume or whatever...”
“We’ll keep our pants on. Hatsume comes from one direction. All Might should be busy with other stuff.” His nose brushed along Kirishima’s pulse, “It’s just us, Eijiro…”
The sound of his given name on Izuku’s lips, breathy and sexy, had a shudder rolling through his body. “Izuku…” he murmured back. Tentatively, he rocked his hips up and delighted in the small gasp that came from the green-haired boy, but when he retaliated by grinding down on him red eyes rolled back with a groan, “Fuck!”
“You know there are other ways to distract from internal problems,” Izuku hummed, shifting around until he had Kirishima’s wrists trapped with one hand and used the other to hook down gym pants over the straining hard on -no pun intended- and green eyes darkened at the sight.
“I know how to masturbate, Midoriya,” Kirishima gave him a sidelong glance with a slightly raised brow, “Didn’ ya say we’d keep our pants on?” Goddamn, seeing the way his pupils blew wide and how his eyes went half-lidded made his breath hitch. He really wanted this, didn’t he?
“Mm, it’s called semi-clothed sex, Eijiro,” he quipped, scarred fingers wrapping around the thick shaft, “I was talking about with other people.”
The way he said his name like a warning had a shiver zip up and down his spine. He tugged on his grip, but mostly to get his attention rather than break the hold, “I wanna...see you, too…” he muttered. Ah, there was the Izuku he knew, lighting up briefly with his usual happy perk. He did good, requesting that.
Letting him go briefly to shove his own gym pants down over his cock that was as equally thick as Kirishima’s, the giddy boy faded again as he panted right along with Kirishima. Sliding his hand back up along the redhead’s arm, he leaned forward until their cocks touched and grasped them both at the same time he took Kirishima’s wrists again. “Didn’t even move, that’s good,” he breathed, lips against his neck again, “You could’ve, you know. Unless you like this? Me taking full control because I won our little match?”
“W-Wouldn’t be...m-manly of me to...assume I could,” Kirishima practically wheezed, his senses starting to overload. His arm tingled from the slide of Izuku’s touch since he usually liked rolling his sleeves up. The slide of skin on skin with their dicks in a calloused grip made his mind swim, and he honest to god whimpered as teeth barely grazed over his flesh. “Zuku…” he shuddered, mindful to use his given name instead of his last.
“Mm...I do suppose you’re right, I didn’t tell you. God, you did so good for me then, Ei,” he purred, scraping his teeth again, following along when Kirishima bucked his hips, “Go ahead, keep doing that…” he encouraged sweetly, his nose pushing the fabric of his top to the side so he could latch on and worrying his skin between his teeth a bit harder.
“Oh fuck! Fuck, fuck, you gunna...leave a h-hickey?” hips jerked and stuttered into a very sure grip. With Izuku’s confidence in this situation, it even made Kirishima wonder if he had done it before. Oh no, that thought made a cold feeling settle in his stomach. No, no he didn’t want anyone else with Izuku like this.
“Your breathing picked up. You alright, Eijiro? Do you not want me to leave one?” the worried tone and the brow pinch made Kirishima feel soft for the boy above him.
“N-No that’s not...I’m…” he shuddered, abdomen clenching. He was so turned on but that thought wouldn’t leave, “Are you...with anyone…”
Understanding flashed behind eyes of emerald green and there was a gentle smile lifted his lips, “No...and you?”
“No...but then...how are you…?” it boggled his mind, there was no way…
A soft little chuckle reached his ears, “You know me, Eijiro. How my mind works. I’ve...thought about...you, like this...quite a lot, actually…” the soft blush that reached Izuku’s face made him feel like he wasn’t actually alone in this. “Not just under me, but reversed...oh, you like that?”
The amusement in his tone made Kirishima’s ears feel hot. His dick had jumped as he imagined Izuku beneath him, just like this. “M-Maybe I do!” he responded, a bit more defensive than he meant and sharp teeth dug into his busted lip, hoping for p-
Izuku’s hand came to grip his jaw, parting his lips and pulling it free from his teeth, “You can lick your lip, taste the blood, but don’t bite it and make it worse, Ei.” He held him, waiting with green boring into red until Kirishima nodded. Then the hand was back around his wrists and he cursed a bit realizing he’d been free for a split second. Which caused Izuku to chuckle. “You’re so pouty, Ei.” Hips started rocking again, driving him wild, “Do you want a next time? To ravish me any way you want?”
It sounded really nice, actually. Considering how much Izuku was turning out to be a little shit, but all Kirishima could really do was gasp and nod vigorously a few times. At least Izuku was starting to have hitches in his breath and gasps, too. “Touch me.” He pleaded. He did not beg...but oh, he felt Izuku’s cock throb against his own. “Touch me, Zuku...I’ll stay like this, just…” he heaved.
That hand moved, making a returning trip back along his forearm and Kirishima’s hands clasped together, his body squirming as Izuku kept pumping their cocks and rutting their hips. All at once, he realized how pliant and obedient he had been with his hand keeping him pinned down, but now it was all his own effort. “I like it when you ask me to touch you, Ei,” his voice broke at the end and it was thrilling for Kirishima to hear. “Knowing how you feel about it, it makes me feel…special.”
“You are...you are special, Izuku,” his back arched into that roaming touch as it traveled over his torso, “Want...need you to…” if he thought he was delirious before, needy and desperate with pleasure, the thought of being caught along with the conscious effort to keep his voice down, he was wrong. As soon as that hand dipped under his gym top and skimmed across bare skin, his eyes shot open and he moaned louder than he had before, “Zuku!”
“That was just my fingertips…” Izuku murmured, his voice sounding like it was in awe but all Kirishima could do was stare up at the sky with a dazed expression, chest heaving. “I wonder… what would happen if I...touched you all over? Hmm? Give me your hand, Eijiro.”
Kirishima didn’t know how he felt about how just using his name could be like uttering a command all on its own. How he was mesmerized enough to follow along with it. Unlocking shaking fingers, he let Izuku do whatever he wanted with it. Which so happened to be wrapping it around their dicks. Oh...oh, Izuku’s shaft felt so soft and the little ‘mmph’ when his calloused fingers skimmed over the crown had him fascinated. For a second, Izuku must’ve forgotten what he was doing because all they did was bump and grind. Kirishima’s other hand moved beside them to dig into the dirt, needing to purchase on something and with his hardening he could go deeper. Briefly, he wondered if he’d accidentally tear the sheets on a bed…
All of a sudden the ground beneath his fingers that he thought he had a good grip on gave way as he howled. Head tossed back he arched even further into the firm, deliberate touch of two hands going from his adonis belt all the way up to his pectorals. “Hhhnnnggg!!!” he grit his teeth, dirt smearing on the other’s gym top as he gripped onto Izuku’s bicep tight, keening and whining as thumbs teased and pinched at his nipples, “Oh god, oh god, oh god…” he chanted, dizzy with the feeling. Never, never in his life did he let someone touch him so fully like this. Absently his other hand pumped them faster, the mischievous little fucker above him altering between feather-light with just his fingertips to full-on palms and all.
“So manly, Ei...I can feel every...groove and contour of your abs…” Izuku heaved his own breath, rolling his hips and eyes glazing over, not that Kirishima could tell through the spinning of the world around him. “So buff, so wonderful, so good...ah...ah, Ei, just like that…” he was the one to whimper this time, and at one particularly good twist of Kirishima’s hand his own flexed and he raked his nails down his torso as his whole body spasmed. The resulting choked off yell had him doing it again, “Gunna...cum for me, Eijiro?”
“S’close...Zuku...oh god...oh god, fuckfuckfuck…” he couldn’t even think, “M-More, more oh…” he didn’t know what he needed, what he was pleading for, but he felt Izuku shove his top up and scarred fingers enclosed around his own, pumping in time with him and red eyes rolled back again as teeth latched on around his nipple while the other hand twisted and pulled the other one, “Aaah! Ah, Zuku! Zuku, I…” his own jaw clenched tight with his groan as his body rippled with the most intense orgasm he’d had ever.
Yet even as his body threatened to pass out, the warmth of his cum all over his chest, he could hear Izuku through the haze still whimpering, could feel his hips still rolling. Without even thinking twice about it, the hand on Izuku’s bicep moved to twine in unruly hunter green hair and he pulled the other boy in to kiss him, needy hot and desperate…
A second coat of warmth accompanied the delicious whine that escaped Izuku’s throat.
They stayed like that thought for a moment, catching their breath against each other, sharing slow kisses and pressed their foreheads together. Finally releasing their limp dicks, they tucked themselves back into their pants. Heaving up, Kirishima caught Izuku with an arm around the other’s back, smirking as he looked as red as his boots, “So now yer shy, hmm?” he teased, letting him go so he could yank off his gym jacket and use it clean themselves off. As he was the one who had a hero costume that showed off his chest, he didn’t really care if he went back to the dorms topless.
“S-S-Sorry, Kiri-”
“It’s Eijiro, isn’t it?” Kirishima’s face was devious, a slow smirk on his face and teasing eyes, “At least when it’s just us. That was amazing, Izuku. That was a whole new side to you and honestly? It was pretty hot. You had me fooled that it was your first time doing that with somebody.” He chuckled as Izuku seemed to get even redder. Reminding him of that first day when Uraraka kept talking to him and he got so flustered he threw both his arms around his head. “Date me, Izuku. I don’t...I don’t want to think about you doing that with someone else.” Wide, disbelieving eyes stared at him, but the face-splitting smile Kirishima’d grown accustomed to appeared.
“Yes!”

Todoroki’s Relationships Analysis: Part 2: Chapters 21-44 (Sports Festival
Onward to the Sports Fest
Chapter 22-23: Midoriya
Todoroki first takes notice of Midoriya when he overhears Iida and Uraraka gossiping about Deku’s connection with All Might. This indicates that Todoroki sees Deku as a rival initially because of his connection with the #1. As Inasa later points out, Shoto at this point in his life seems to be always looking away to something he hates in the distance. He only sees the chance to hurt his Dad, and nothing else.
Right before the Sports Festival starts, in the prep room, Shoto walks up to Midoriya and tells him he’s better than him, but that since All Might has his eyes on Midoriya, Todoroki intends to beat him. “I feel no need to pry into that” indicates that Shoto isn’t interested in Midoriya himself at this point, but only in the prestige of defeating All Might’s protege.
He certainly isn’t.
Midoriya accepts his challenge and Shoto’s response is hard to describe...he’s basically just calmly accepting.
In the first event, Shoto instantly gets ahead of the crowd. Momo and Bakugou both reprimand him for his arrogance in thinking he could beat them all so easily, as both of them are able to escape his trap right away.
Cont below the cut
Todoroki probably expected them to escape - as established before, he has respect for Momo and Katsuki’s skills.
His gaze is still focused on Endeavor. He also froze the robots on purpose to take people out, showing a disregard for other peoples’ safety.
He takes the time to notice Bakugou catching up to him; Bakugou then proceeds to pass him and tell him he declared war on the wrong person. Shoto looks like he may be considering that possibility - remember, at this point he has expressed respect for Bakugou’s abilities, outside of any mentor figure or connection, but not for Midoriya’s on his own.
Like in the Provisional License Exam Arc, Shoto gets distracted by a petty fight with a potential rival and leaves himself open to fail, focusing more on his angry and resentment than on trying to win.
And then gets taken down from behind, by someone he stopped paying attention to. When Midoriya surpasses him (and Bakugou stays ahead of him) he looks annoyed, even angry.
And as he continues to tie with the other two, he looks a little nervous.
When he does in fact lose, his initial response isn’t shown, but his image in the results is almost in shock. While Shoto does have a tendency to come in second (the entrance exam, the Quirk Apprehension test), he directly challenged Midoriya, and then lost to him in the first event. He probably was not expecting to actually lose to Deku in the first round. Deku surprises him here.
CAVALRY BATTLE:
Kirishima mentions that Todoroki assembled his team pretty quickly. We already know that Shoto respects Yaoyorozu’s capabilities.
It’s possible, however, that he only picked these three, as he said later on, because they would ‘make the strongest possible combination’. He’s definitely buying into his own assertion about not being there to make friends.
He admits to Iida that he has a vow not to use his heat side, the first time we see him admit this to someone.
His target is Midoriya, like most of the other teams. Deku has 10 million points, so he basically has no choice. He also probably wants to surpass him after losing to him in the first round.
He tells Midoriya firmly that he’ll “be taking that”, challenging him about halfway through with a carefully thought out plan.
We see that Shoto generally works well with Yaoyorozu. However, as she puts it later, she mostly just follows his orders here. He’s the boss, she’s the secondary teammate (as are Kaminari and Iida), the subordinate to his state of being in charge.
Todoroki is kept at bay for almost the entire Cavalry Battle thanks to Midoriya exploiting his weakness. This really pisses Shoto off. He calls Deku a “bastard” for exploiting his weakness here - another sign of Shoto effectively
His response to Deku coming at him with his fire power is one of real terror. He reflexively activates his fire side in this fit of terror. (OFA full power can bring down a building, he’s not wrong).
He’s horrified that he let his left side activate, and looks nearly traumatized afterwards. He blames Midoriya for cornering him, and corners him before lunch to explain why he won’t use his fire side.
BACKSTORY TIME
So Midoriya is the only person Todoroki has so far given the details of his backstory to. I’ve always found the question of confidence to be an important one in determining who to pair up, becuase it indicates who the character feels they can talk to about their personal problems. So far, though, Shoto hasn’t shown much warmth or fondness for Midoriya, so confiding in him here feels differently from Ochaco confiding her backstory in Iida and Deku, or Deku telling Kacchan about OFA, or even Bakugou crying in front of Midoriya on several occasions. As shown above, he begins this confidence glaring at Izuku with a “cold” sort of intimidation.
He explains his own reasoning for why he used his flame side and makes a reasonable guess, but not a correct one, about Izuku’s origin story.
He tends to be looking away from Deku in this scene as he tells him about his origin. Looking off, as always, into the distance, at something not immediately before him.
Here, he finally gets a little emotional and admits something tragic and uncomfortable, ending with his complete pledge. Izuku declares war right back at him, and Todoroki says basically nothing. He has no response.
Honestly, I’m not really sure why Todoroki chooses to tell Deku his backstory. My best guess is that it’s his way of justifying holding back against him. He has an inkling that maybe that’s the wrong thing to do, but he needs to reaffirm that his tactic is correct.
DEKU VS TODOROKI
Todoroki in general here seems genuinely scared of Deku’s power.
He’s rightfully horrified at how far Deku is willing to go (this translation is so weird). Todoroki genuinely doesn’t seem to understand at this point why anyone would go this far to win. It’s hard for him to empathize with this mindset, because he’s used to being the best and winning pretty easily.
He is not without empathy for how much pain Deku is in, of course. He apologizes for hurting him, which Deku probably interprets as condescending to him. He feels bad that his own power is hurting someone - his usual ‘apologies’ catchphrase indicating that he’s apologizing for his op-ness.
Deku calls Todoroki out for refusing to actually look at his opponent and fixating on some offscreen foe.
He still can’t seem to understand why Midoriya would do this. To someone like Todoroki, who’s used to being able to win without having to take any real damage himself, the idea of breaking your own body to win an exhibition match is probably completely incomprehensible.
The only way he can explain it to himself is by assuming Endeavor rigged the match, once again fixating on his old man at the expense of everything else.
As Deku gets crazier and crazier Shoto flashes back to his recital of his ‘trivial’ motivation. Deku then starts bawling Shoto out for refusing to give it his all.
Shoto’s response to this is to tell him to Shut up and start flashing back to his own traumatic backstory. He’s overwhelmed by his ice side and starts falling apart, afraid to use his fire and aware that that might be the only way he can win. As I mentioned in my meta on his ‘Shipping Problem’, this is an issue between Deku and Shoto: Deku is very argumentative and confrontational, Shoto is not.
It isn’t until Deku says something constructive that everything changes. This reminds Shoto of something All Might said, and something his mother said. This prompts him to use his fire for the first time.
This smile (the first time we see Shoto smile) can be read in a number of ways. Mainly, of course, a feeling of freedom, of being able to let loose. Fighting Sero earlier saw Shoto essentially just cut loose with his ice powers and nearly hurt someone. Shoto’s core fear seems to be becoming like his father and harming those around him with his power. But there is an argument that quirks demand to be used, that people need to be able to utilize their abilities. Freeing Shoto up to do so means that Izuku saves him from feeling torn about this. Even the most dangerous and terrifying powers demand their use (ie, Toga’s backstory) and repressing them mentally hurts people in BNHA.
He starts crying about unleashing his powers this way, as Endeavor screams his name at him and yells at him that he’s “living up to the reason he created him”. So, now that Izuku has given Shoto the words he needed to make better use of his quirk, what does he think of Deku now?
a
Well he’s not wrong. But it does seem that Shoto thinks Midoriya is crazy. Something about him just unsettles him and he can’t seem to understand what motivates Izuku to act like he does.
However, he’s still grateful to him for his support.
He’s borderline stunned when he wins and left deeply conflicted about what to do next. He can only say that Deku distracted him from Endeavor enough that he “forgot about him”. Deku made him use his left side in order to win. He doesn’t use his fire against Iida and seems back, almost, to his old ways - winning fast with only ice and a quietly mumbled “apologies”.
Now we come back to Bakugou. Now, Todoroki, as established before, does have some respect for Bakugou’s abilities. He isn’t completely dismissive of him. He’s not afraid of him (his face when challenging him is never as scared as he looks fighting OFA Deku), and he generally just kind of stays calm around him.
While preparing for his match, Todoroki is thinking about Midoriya’s words. He has probably been considering tactics and that he might need to use his fire to beat Bakugou, which would have led him back to considering what Deku said and his conflict with his mom.
When Bakugou bursts in, Shoto looks a little surprised but immediately goes back to contemplating his hands. Bakugou doesn’t like this and, like Deku, demands “Where are you looking?” A moment of continuity between the two rivals.
Shoto asks Bakugou all about Deku, showing some interest in learning more about the guy and maybe even some guilt for how Deku went out.
Bakugou kicks the table over and demands that Todoroki pay attention to HIM, not his family problems or Deku or anything. This is a Shoto analysis post, not a Bakugou one, so I won’t go into Bakugou’s motives here. Shoto looks annoyed with him after he says this and even a little angry.
He starts his match with a very all out ice attack. To quote from my friend ido100, about Todoroki’s fights here “Against Sero, I think the "apology" was meant to say something like "I need to flip the bastard off, and I'm sorry I have to release the rage on you".Against Bakugo, I think when what went through his mind when Midoriya encouraged him was "Why am I holding back? Endeavor doesn't matter. I'll show him. The only thing that matters is the battle!" Retaliation- "But... It's... not right. Is it?"And during the battle against Bakugo, the comment of the ice being more focused indicates his mind was cleared more into the battle. “
Shoto conitnues to try fighting with only ice, enraging Bakugou when he refuses to fight him with fire.
Aizawa points out that he’s basically lost his energy after fighting Deku. He’s not sure of anything anymore, not sure whether he should use only ice or use both. Before he was unstoppable because he had a clear goal. Now he’s had to compromise his plans and he just can’t go all out either way.
This line is really interesting - Todoroki didn’t feel guilty about not giving Midoriya an all out fight at first, even though both demanded as much from him. His mindset has changed. He doesn’t suspect Bakugou of being paid off by Endeavor. Instead, he feels bad about hurting him.
Midoriya cheers him on from the stands and for a moment Todoroki decides to go all out and use his fire. However, the flashbacks to his past return and in the end he puts the fire out and loses, devastating Bakugou. A part of it may indeed be just as Bakugou fears, that Todoroki doesn’t think he’s a big enough threat to merit an all out fight - after all, he’s a LOT more intimidated by MIdoriya, despite Bakugou throwing freaking Howitzer impact at him.
Afterwards, he’s still thinking about Deku and why All Might took notice of him. Based on Deku’s...advice?...he decides to go make peace with his mom so he can be a better hero in the future.
Sports Fest Shoto starts off madly resolved on winning with just his ice side. He notices Midoriya as All Might’s protege and challenges him, he acknowledges Momo and Bakugou’s strength to some degree, but he’s mostly preoccupied with screwing over Endeavor. He’s forced out of that sort of fog when Deku starts going crazy and berating him. He feels free to let loose for a little while, but remains conflicted and ends up hurting Bakugou’s feelings. The arc leaves him in a state of confusion and ambivalence.

I Might Like You (Bakugou Katsuki x Reader)
A/N: So I just graduated from high school and I actually have the time to read and write now. Isn’t that crazy? I have so much I need to write.*rubs hands together*
I do not own My Hero Academia or any of its characters.
"Out of my way, extra!" Wincing at the sharp shove to your shoulder, you bit your lip to hold back the retort on your tongue. Nothing but pain and harsh glares would result from talking back to Bakugou Katsuki, a lesson you had learned early in life.
The ash blonde didn't even have the decency to spare you a glance as he stormed by you, set on doing god knows what. It wasn't like you and he had known each other practically your entire lives. No, not at all.
For as long as you could remember, Bakugou had treated you just as badly as Izuku, if not worse. You had no idea what you had ever done to deserve his hostility, but the explosive male seemed resolved to hate you forever.
Hurrying in his footsteps, Kirishima sent you an apologetic look over his shoulder. Taking a deep breath, you squared your shoulders. This was just another day. You weren't going to let Bakugou get to you.
Little did you know of the piercing red eyes that watched your every move, a rare conflict hidden in their ruby depths.
He hated you. No. Hate was too soft a word. He loathed you. With every fiber of his being. Why? He didn't quite know, but ever since you were kids something about you made him feel...off. Too warm and like his stomach was roiling.
He felt weak whenever you were around, and that was unacceptable. He was going to be the number one hero. He couldn't afford to be weak.
So he kept you as far away as possible, channeling every bit of disgust he could into harsh words and rough treatment in an effort to drive you off, and that was exactly how he intended to keep it, despite his traitorous heart urging him to do otherwise.
Blowing a lock of hair out of your face, you tried to concentrate on the worksheet laid out on the desk before you, blocking out the sounds of conversation around you. You could probably get it done later if you really wanted to, but you just wanted to be done with it. One less thing for to worry about tonight when you had other homework to get done.
You were almost finished when a blur of yellow appeared in the edge of your vision, a certain pikachu look alike asking, "Whatcha doin'?"
Smiling, you looked up at Kaminari hovering over you. "Finishing the worksheet Aizawa-sensei gave us."
Though a lot of people found Kaminari annoying, you actually enjoyed his company, even going so far as to spend time with him outside of school working on schoolwork or just hanging out. He definitely wasn't the brightest bulb in the box, but he was kind to you and never failed to make you smile, unlike another blonde classmate whose sole purpose in life seemed to be to torment you whenever you came within a ten foot radius of him.
"Couldn't you finish it at home? You're so smart, I'm sure you could get it done in no time."
"That's exactly why I'm doing it now. So I don't have to spend time on it tonight."
"In that case..." Kaminari slid into the chair in front of you, striking a jokingly suggestive look. "Wanna make out later?" You raised an eyebrow at the same time that he noticed his mistake, eyes widening and his mouth opening and closing a few times before he managed to say, "No! I mean, do you want to hang out, not make out! That's not what I-! I mean you're beautiful, but-"
"Are you kidding? Who would ever want to make out with an extra like her?" a familiar abrasive voice scoffed from behind you. Biting your lip in a grimace, you turned in your chair to face your aggressor, meeting his glare with one of your own. Bakugou lifted a brow, a mocking smile spreading across his face. "What? You got a problem? You can't tell me I'm not right."
He moved closer, standing mere inches away as his eyes narrowed. "You're a weak, stupid try-hard who would never be anyone's first choice." His gaze shifted to Kaminari and he growled, "I'm surprised you would stoop so low, pikachu," but you barely heard him, barely saw him, as the blood rushed in your ears and your vision blurred.
The world went out of focus and you didn't realize what you'd done until you registered the stinging sensation in your hand a few seconds later and saw Bakugou's head snap to the side, red eyes wide with surprise and a red mark rapidly forming on his cheek. Faintly, you were aware of the classroom falling silent, a collective gasp hanging in the air.
You had slapped him. You had slapped Bakugou Katsuki. And you didn't care what he did to you in response.
"Why do you have to be so awful?" you whispered, voice shaking. "Why do you feel the need to torment me more than anyone else?" Tears of frustration and hurt slipped down your cheeks. "You call yourself a hero, but you're a villain to me."
With that you slipped past him and out of the room, grateful when Uraraka followed you, a comforting arm draping across your shoulders and her hand holding yours. Directing you outside and away from any curious onlookers, the other girl sat you down on a bench and held you against her as you cried into her shoulder.
"Why does he have to be such a dick?" you whimpered, hands fisting in your lap.
Uraraka sighed, rubbing soothing circles into your back. "I guess that's just the way he is."
"But he hates me more than anyone else! I don't even know what I did to make him hate me!"
She didn't say anything, distracted by footsteps signaling the approach of another. For a moment you thought it was Bakugou come to collect punishment for hitting him, but when you looked up you saw that it was only Kirishima, looking a little uncertain of whether he should be there or not. "Hey (y/n), is now a good time to talk?"
"Are you here to scold me for lashing out at him?" It came out harsher than you intended and Kirishima lifted his hands.
"No, not at all! Bakugou totally deserved all of that, but...I do think we need to talk about...whatever this is between you and him."
Uraraka shot you a look clearly asking if it was okay to leave you alone and you nodded, giving her hand a squeeze. Kirishima took her place on the bench as she got up and walked away, glancing over her shoulder at you a couple of times for good measure.
The red-head next to you released a long, slow breath before speaking. "So...Bakugou's really bad with feelings."
You snorted. "You could say that again. He's been like that since we were kids."
Kirishima was silent for a moment. "Why do you think he treats you more harshly than anyone else?"
"Probably because he hates me."
"I think it's because you make him weak."
Your head snapped to level Kirishima with an incredulous stare. "What? I make him weak? What do you mean?"
"I know it sounds crazy but hear me out. Bakugou hates weakness more than anything. Now imagine if there was a person who actually managed to become a point of weakness or vulnerability or something for him. Mix that with how bad he is when it comes to feelings and he would-"
"Try to keep that person as far away as possible," you finished, gaze shifting to your feet. "So you think I'm a point of weakness for Bakugou?"
"Well, yeah. Basically."
"You didn't know whether to laugh or seriously question how well Kirishima actually knew Bakugou. "All this time, he treated me so badly...because of that?!" You jumped to your feet, beginning to pace as your voice rose. "That's no excuse! I never did anything to him, and he treated me like dirt because he couldn't handle his feelings?! You have to be kidding me!"
"It's just a hunch. I could be wrong," Kirishima pointed out, shoulders scrunching up in an attempt to make himself look smaller as you turned on him.
"It can't be true!"
"It's true," a new voice interrupted. You spun around to find the very subject of your conversation standing on the edge of the courtyard, hands shoved in his pockets and a sour expression on his face.
You were aware of Kirishima standing up behind you, coming to stand at your shoulder. "Bakugou-"
"You make me feel weak and I hate it," the blonde continued, ignoring his best friend as he started to advance on you. "Ever since we were kids, being around you has made me feel weird and wrong." He came to a stop inches away from you, staring you down, and you thought you caught a glimpse of conflict in his eyes. "I treated you the way I did for so long because I can't stand the way I feel when I'm around you and I don't regret any of it. I can't afford to feel weak. Ever."
You opened your mouth to respond, to yell at him, scream at him, but he continued before you could get a single word out. "Today though, after you called me a villain..." Something shifted in his gaze, an emotion you couldn't place entering his angry, red eyes. "I don't want you to think of me like that." His eyes turned away from yours and you could see him worrying the inside of his cheek with his teeth. "I don't want you to hate me."
You didn't realize you had started crying again until you spoke, your voice angry and unsteady. "Then don't be so horrible to me all the damn time!" You took a step closer to him. "Don't act like you hate me if you don't want me to hate you!"
You gasped as strong arms wrapped around you, pulling your stunned figure into a warm chest. The hug was tentative, unsure, and a little awkward, but you had to admit there was something nice about it too. His arms didn't seem to know how to hold you properly, one stiffly wrapped around your shoulders while the other held your waist, but there was nothing hateful or spiteful about the gesture.
In his own clumsy way, Bakugou was genuinely trying to comfort you.
"I don't hate you, so stop crying okay?" he muttered gruffly. He said something else under his breath, but when you looked up to question him, he refused to look at you. "I'll try not to-" He unclenched his jaw and started again. "I'll try to treat you better, so...so don't hate me, okay?"
You sniffled and lifted your arms to return his embrace. What he'd done still hurt and you weren't quite ready to forgive him after so many years of mistreatment, but at that moment all you wanted was to be held and comforted. Just like this. "Okay."
You didn't know if you would ever admit it to him, but you heard what he'd let slip seconds before.
"I might actually like you."
And you hoped, despite yourself, that he meant it.

SCENARIO REQUEST: ❝painful annoyance.❞
[ Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia ] [ Characters: Midoriya Izuku, Bakugou Katsuki, Todoroki Shouto ]
「Scenario of Bakugou, Todoroki and Midoriya deal with their S/O’s troublesome period pains for their first time. 」
MIDORIYA IZUKU
Midoriya was freaking out.
It’s true that he was observant, a trait that had helped him greatly in the past. He discovered your likes and dislikes, as well as your habits. His observant nature allowed him to vaguely make out what you were thinking about. With your face twisted in pain and hands clutching your stomach, Midoriya was worried that you might’ve caught some disease. He was already by your side the moment he reached your room.
“Wh-What’s wrong? Your stomach hurts? Is it internal bleeding or a stomach bug? Are you okay, [First Name]-chan?” the freckled boy began fretted over you.
“Izuku.....it’s just my period, just stomach cramps.” you managed to mumble, flashing him a small smile as you slowly sit up on the bed.
“I’m just dying, slowly dying in a very painful way.” you moaned dramatically and laid back onto the bed. Midoriya slowly approached you, watching as you rolled over and bury your face onto the pillow. The mumbled groans and complains were all muffled by your pillow. Honestly, he was at lost, unsure of what he was supposed to do in this situation.
“Do you want anything? Meds? Food? Something to drink?” the male questioned, eyes filled with nothing but worry and concern. You mulled over the things that you could possibly need. Before you could even give your answer, Midoriya was already on his phone.
“There’s a lot of medicine like Advil, Aleve or Tylenol......oh and also Panadol Menstural! Which one do you use? I’ll just to the store to get some for you. Heating pads can also help do you want any? Do you need more pads or tampons? I’ll go get them!”
“Izuku, honey.....please calm down.” you could hear him mumble to himself about things that were inaudible to you.
“I already have everything so I just need you to go get them for me.” you told him with a weak smile.
After telling your boyfriend where you kept your things, he immediately rushed to get them and didn’t forget to bring a glass of water for you. By the time he came back, you were already seated up and waiting for him. Once you had your meds and a heating pad, you laid back down. The pain subsided but it didn’t go away yet so you were still in pain. Midoriya sat on the side of the bed, eyeing you with concern.
“Is there anything else I can do? Does it still hurt?” he questioned.
“It’s okay, Izuku. I will get better after some rest.”
“Oh.....okay.”
“But.....I think cuddling with you will make me feel better.” you smiled lightly at your boyfriend who’s cheeks flushed light red as his whole face lit up. With the opportunity of being able to ease your pain. He was quick to join you in bed, wrapping his arms around your belly and burying his face onto your hair.
BAKUGOU KATSUKI
Bakugou was obviously ― much calmer compared to others. He had this face that looked like it wasn’t a big deal but in reality, he was confused as fuck. The concept of a period is completely foreign to him. He wasn’t a girl so he couldn’t possibly sympathize and say that he knows how it feels. Seeing you curled up into a ball on the bed wasn’t a sight that was rare but the way your face was scrunched up in pain, that was something he grew concerned of.
“What the fuck is going on? Did you eat something wrong?” Bakugou has no chill and quickly assumed that you ate something bad earlier that resulted in a stomachache. But he had a feeling that it was something more worrisome. The moment you rolled over, letting out a whine, he was already standing at the side of your bed.
“Period cramps.....they’re so annoying.....It feels like I’m dying.”
Instantly all his worries faded, replaced by confusion and slight concern. Now, he may know a few things about a girl’s monthly phase but he wasn’t a know-it-all. Honestly, it looked like you were going to die if he didn’t do something about it. You were rolling on the bed with a pillow hugged close to your chest. He wanted to say that you were overexaggerating but Bakugou couldn’t see the usual playful spark in your eyes.
To say that he was panicking is an understatement. He had no idea what he can do to help you. It didn’t help that you appear to be in too much pain to even speak. He sat down next to you, awkwardly patting your back while you were moaning in pain. Pressing his lips against your forehead, he mumbled something about running to the store to fetch you a few things.
Even though he seemed calm and collected, he was panicking a lot. He had never used his phone so intensively before. Numerous words were scanned through and various websites were accessed. There was no way he could just ask another girl for embarrassing things like this. And so Bakugou was standing at the feminine care section while glaring at his phone like he wanted to destroy it.
He bought a lot of things. You went through all the things he had brought for you, there were pads, chocolate, some ice cream, painkillers, and heating pads. Everything that could possibly ask for during your period. Sitting next to you, the male watched as you broke out into a grin.
“Thank you, Katsuki! This means a lot to me......How did you know what to get though?” you mumbled the rest mostly to yourself.
“Do you wanna cuddle or some shit like that?” Bakugou then asked, rubbing the back of his head while avoiding your gaze. You nodded eagerly and made space for him to get on the bed. Your response was immediate, instantly clinging onto your boyfriend as he wrapped his around your waist, enveloping you in his warmth. The warmth that welcomed you made you extremely comfortable.
You instantly relaxed in his hold and the pain started to subside.
TODOROKI SHOUTO
Clueless? Maybe.
“Period....?”
“You know.....menstruation.”
“Oh.”
Definitely clueless. Todoroki definitely has no knowledge about how the female body works. Watching you lie down on the bed looking miserable made his heart clench painfully. He wasn’t sure what he could do to alleviate your pain. All he could do was sit on the bed and hold onto your hand, rubbing the back. He kept on asking you what he can do to help you but all he got as a response was a quiet ‘I’m fine, Shouto.’ and give him a small smile.
Being with you for a long time had changed him a lot. He was starting to become observant and now it was easy to read your thoughts by watching your expressions. But it doesn’t work all the time. This just happened to be one of the rare moments he was able to see through your mask. Despite constantly denying, he knew that you were in pain. As he excused himself from your room, Todoroki stood in the hallway and pulled out his phone.
Internet would give you odd suggestions. Even so, it was still one of the things that would help him. He had no other choice. However, the information further confused him, there were things that he wasn’t certain about. Instead of relying on the internet, he chose to dial a certain number.
”Hello, nee-san? I need some help.”
Todoroki came back home an hour after you heard him leave the house. You rose from the bed and slowly made your way to the living room to see your boyfriend taking off his shoes. He was carrying, a lot of groceries ― really, it was a whole lot.
“Shouto? Did you go to the store? I thought we have enough food.” you mumbled, watching him place everything on the couch.
“I didn’t know which pads you use so I got one of each.” Todoroki said nonchalantly, holding out a pack of sanitary pads for you. Awkwardly taking the item from his hands, you observed the rest that came along with it. ‘These could definitely last me three months.’ you said to yourself before he rummaged through another plastic bag.
“I brought your favorite snacks, all of them.” he presented the mentioned items that were all inside a plastic bag. You were elated to see a whole bag filled with the snacks you were craving for.
“Thank you so much, Shouto! You’re the best!” you wrapped your arms around the male and rubbed your cheek against his clothed chest.

We focused more on the second anon’s request. We want to apologize to the first anon because we weren’t sure what kind of NSFW stuff you wanted.... We also don’t write for Dabi and Iida but we might in the future! So, hope this request will at least fulfill at least something. ― author Hibiki/Lou
So, this was an interesting request. I rarely experience period pains so I can’t really relate. As for Lou who claims it feels like death, she was able to elaborate a bit. Those going through their period, ganbatte.... ― author Natsuki
